Spielwarenmesse Sees Climb in Visitors, Exhibitors, and International Participation

Logo Spielwarenmesse 2016The 68th Spielwarenmesse took place from Feb. 1 to 6 and posted high numbers of international exhibitors and visitors. The show had 2,871 companies exhibiting from 63 countries, up from 2,851 in 2016. A total of 73,000 visitors, up 3.2 percent from 70,714 last year, travelled to Nuremberg from 123 countries.

The proportion of international retailers and buyers increased to 60 percent from 58 percent last year. The majority of trade buyers came from Europe, Asia, and America. Expressed by country, the largest increases were recorded from Italy, Russia, and China.

Spielwarenmesse showcased the Tech2Play Promotion Area, featuring technological toys in the electronic pets, robot toys, R/C drones, virtual play, and 3-D printing categories. The new Special Area for Baby & Infant Articles featured a range of products including baby toys, baby textile, travel systems, care and food, home and safety, and licensed articles.

Next year’s event will take place for five days from Jan. 31 to Feb. 4.
