American Girl will introduce a new series of contemporary characters and stories this year—including the brand’s first 18-inch boy doll—in response to fan requests for more options.

The new 2017 American Girl characters, including those from today and yesterday, will be available in 18-inch dolls, outfits, and accessories. Each characters’ content will feature a variety of ways to tell their stories, including books, live-action specials, and digital platforms such as online videos, web series, and apps.

On Feb. 16, American Girl will introduce the newest contemporary character, Tenney Grant. A rising star in the Nashville music scene, Tenney is a breakout songwriter finding the heart to be herself. The Tenney doll features long, curly blond hair and brown eyes, an exclusive outfit that reflects her artistic side, and a book chronicling her story. The Tenney collection also comes with several music-inspired outfits and accessories, including a miniature version of an authentic Taylor GS Mini guitar that can be strummed and plays three songs, and a two-sided stage and dressing room that features more than 40 pieces, such as an amp, microphone, and working spotlights.

Logan Everett will also be introduced on Feb. 16 as American Girl’s first-ever boy character and the drummer in Tenney’s band. Logan’s assortment includes an 18-inch doll with short brown hair, gray eyes, and an original outfit, as well as his very own rhythmic drum set.

American Girl will also reintroduce Felicity Merriman, a historical character from 1774 who teaches how to be loyal, independent, and responsible, on Feb. 16; Z Yang, an imaginative filmmaker, this spring; and Nanea Mitchell, a Hawaiian girl who does good deeds and gives selflessly during World War II, this fall.

The Tenney collection will be available through American Girl’s catalogue; at americangirl.com; at all American Girl retail locations nationwide; and at American Girl specialty boutiques at select Indigo and Chapters in Canada and El Palacio de Hierro locations in Mexico City in March. The Tenney books can also be purchased through retail and online booksellers.
