eOne Expands Consumer Products Program for PJ Masks

Entertainment One (eOne) expands its consumer products program for PJ Masks, including new ride-ons, bicycles, safety helmets, and more debuting this fall and into early next year.

PJ Masks gear hitting retail nationwide includes the Catboy Cat-Car and Gekko Mobile ride-ons from Jakks Pacific. These custom sculpted, kid-powered vehicles feature flashing lights, sound effects, and play the PJ Masks theme song. Jakks will also offer the Happy Hauler, a wagon that transforms into a ride-on with at the press of a button, and the PJ Masks Playland.

Jazwares will introduce PJ Masks Headphones, featuring Catboy, Owlette, and Gekko graphics; a digital PJ Masks Alarm Clock that plays the show’s theme song; and PJ Masks Walkie Talkies.

A new selection of PJ Masks watches is coming from VTech, including themed clock face designs, time tools, and mini games. The PJ Masks Superhero Tablet features six interactive games and activities.

Additional licensees include Bell Sports for Catboy sports helmets with a shock absorbing inner liner; Bravo Sports for Play Wheels PJ Masks Kids Roller Skates with Knee Pads and Classic Quad Roller Skates; Pacific Cycle for multi-colored PJ Masks bikes; and Rollplay for the 6V PJ Masks Cat Car, featuring working headlights and sounds, and the 6V PJ Masks Scooter ride-on.

BBC Worldwide, Tiny Rebel Games Partner for New Doctor Who Game

Tiny Rebel Games Ltd. partnered with BBC Worldwide for Doctor Who Infinity, which will be available on PC on mobile platforms next spring. The new game is funded by Welsh Government’s Media Investment Budget and Double Eleven Ltd., and developed in collaboration with Seed Studio.

Doctor Who Infinity builds on the puzzle gameplay of Doctor Who: Legacy and immerses players in comic book style puzzle adventures. Each story-based adventure has its own unique art style and author.

Doctor Who Infinity will initially launch exclusively early next spring, and will be live globally on PC, iTunes, and Google Play late spring. 

World Rugby Appoints IMG as Global Master Licensee

World Rugby has appointed IMG to manage the global licensing and merchandising rights for the next two Rugby World Cups and its other tournaments.
The long-term strategic partnership encompasses the Rugby World Cup 2019 and 2023 as a primary focus, as well as the Women’s Rugby World Cup, World Rugby U20 Championship and the World Rugby brand.

WowWee Retains Striker Entertainment as Worldwide Licensing Agency for Fingerlings

WowWee retained Striker Entertainment to serve as the worldwide licensing agency for the Fingerlings toy line. The toys cling to kids’ fingers and react to sound, motion, and touch with more than 40 animations.
Striker will work with WowWee to develop a worldwide licensing strategy to expand the growing consumer interest and retail demand for additional consumer products categories. 

Bioworld Confirmed as BLE Gaming Activation Sponsor

Bioworld International has been confirmed as a sponsor of the new Gaming Activation at Brand Licensing Europe (BLE) 2017. 
The company’s Head of Licensing, Richard Radford, will also take part in the gaming keynote panel - ‘Gaming: Dispelling the Myths’ – taking place at 12pm on Tuesday 10 October.

Rocket Licensing to Expand Licensing Campaign for Hotel Transylvania

Rocket Licensing, which manages the licensing for the Hotel Transylvania in the UK, will expand the brand’s licensing campaign. The franchise’s third film installment will premiere next summer, and the first season of Hotel Transylvania: The Series recently debuted on The Disney Channel.
Jazwares is the global master toy partner for the franchise. Rocket will target a range of categories including apparel, dress-up, footwear, publishing, and back-to-school stationery and bags. Additionally categories expected to roll-out late next year include greeting cards, calendars, bedding, jewelry, accessories, gifts, and confectionery.
Hotel Transylvania 3 reunites favorite characters, including Mavis, Drac, Johnny, Dennis, and more. In this film, the characters will venture outside the hotel for the first time after Mavis surprises Dracula with a family trip on the Monster Cruise Ship.
Additionally, the new TV series follows Mavis during her teenage years at Hotel Transylvania. The series has had a strong response since its launch in the U.S., and also premiered in the UK last month.

ITV Studios Global Entertainment Announces Social Media Influencers to Be Featured in New Series

The Netflix series Robozuna will feature YouTube and social media influencers Ali-A and Ethan Gamer. The new series will air next year on CITV and ITV in the UK, and worldwide on Netflix.
Robozuna follows 14-year-old Ariston and his homemade robot sidekick Mangle as they join a team of Combatabots (robot gladiators) and battle in the Robozuna games to overthrow the evil empire.
Ali-A will join the voice cast as Clunk, a hammer-wielding robot whose wits don’t quite match up to his strength. Ali-A will also work with ITV Studios Global Entertainment on additional content for Robozuna, where he will appear as himself.
Ethan Gamer will voice two Combatabots, Pulp and Rupture, as well as 11-year-old Dustin, the son of two villagers who are saved by the Freebot Fighters. 

CPLG to Represent NOW That’s What I Call Music

CPLG has been appointed the European licensing agent for NOW That’s What I Call Music, the biggest selling compilation brand in the world.
CPLG will develop a licensing programme for the iconic music brand across a number of product categories including apparel, accessories and publishing, with the first range of products expected to launch later this year.
The first NOW album launched in 1983.

First Licensees Announced for Zing's Stikbot

The first licensees for Zing's Stikbot will be in the toys and bedding and apparel categories in the U.S. and Canada. The deal was brokered by The Joester Loria Group, the exclusive licensing agent for the brand.

Basic Fun will release Stikbot plush and figural stretch toys, which may include sound, construction, and role-play items. Hybrid Apparel will release girls, boys, and young men's T-shirts and tops.

Danilo Joins Roald Dahl Licensing Program

DRi Licensing has added to the ever-growing Roald Dahl programme with a major new signing in the greetings cards category.
In addition to greetings cards, Danilo will also add striking new wrap and gift bags later in 2018.
Alicia Davenport, DRi Licensing’s Licensing Director said, “This year really has been a stand out one for the Dahl brand and we’re delighted to be adding to the success by welcoming Danilo to the licensing programme.”

Saban Brands Expands Power Rangers Brand in EMEA Territories

Saban Brands will add new content, product lines, retail initiatives, and marketing activity for Power Rangers in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).
Power Rangers Ninja Steel premiered its 24th season in the UK in August, and is currently airing throughout the EMEA territory. Broadcast partners include Neox (Spain), POP (Italy), E-Vision (UAE), Gulli Arabi (Middle East), Smile TV (Greece), and London Live (UK).
Major retailers across EMEA will feature Ninja Steel products in support of the launch. The Entertainer ran a marketing campaign that included four Super Saturdays events where fans could take part in challenges inspired by the new toys, enter competitions, and enjoy exclusive discounts. Toys “R” Us also had front-of-store feature space and will showcase the new toy range throughout next summer. In France, Auchan and toy specialist JouéClub will host Power Rangers meet and greet events. In addition, JouéClub will have flagship window displays and will promote the events through radio advertisements.  
New licensing partners include Sambro for backpacks and arts and crafts; IMC for R/C and electronic toys; and Tech 4 Kids for Mashems and Blastems. 
Saban Brands recently renewed its long-standing partnerships with Rubies Costume Co. for dress-up, AFG Media for Morphsuits, and Smith and Brooks for apparel. Saban Brands launched a successful direct-to-retail (DTR) deal with Tesco, which featured a range of personalized gifting items, including stationery, drink bottles, phone cases, and more that fans can customize with their name.

Oxford Signs Home Fragrance

International home fragrance company, Bahoma Limited (Ltd) has signed with the University of Oxford to create a range of candles and home fragrance collections for European and UK retailers.  The five year deal was brokered by Global Icons who will represent Oxford at BLE 17, Stand N100.
“Right from the start we felt this partnership was a really good fit for the University brand,” commented Oxford MD, Chris Evans.  “Bahoma’s senior management team has taken the company from kitchen table to warehouse scale production and are passionate about their product and our brand.”

Cartoon Network Unveils Ben 10 Partners in EMEA Territories 

Following the TV series debut of Ben 10 across EMEA last year, Cartoon Network adds first licensing partners for the region.
Master global toy partner Playmates leads the EMEA merchandise program, and Giochi Preziosi Group will be the pan-European marketing and distribution partner and Flair will distribute the range in the UK. The toy range features figurines, role-play items, and play sets.
Cartoon Network also has partners for additional key categories and products will begin to roll out this fall.  Apparel and accessories categories in the UK include Smith & Brooks and Fashion UK for daywear, Cooneen Group for nightwear and underwear, Drew Pearson International for accessories, and Roy Lowe and Sons for socks. The first publishing licensees signed include Centum Books as master publishing partner and Panini for magazines. Additional partners include Dreamtex for bedding and Zak for lunchware and drinkware.
The brand’s first partners in Spain and Portugal include Air Val Iberia for personal care and Kid Licensing Iberia for watches and lights. Partners in Poland feature Uroda for bedding and Smyk for apparel, footwear and accessories. In Turkey, Zorluteks Tekstil Ticaret Ve Sanayi A.S. will feature bedding. In Italy, licensees include Commerciale Campana Srl for footwear, Original Marines for apparel and accessories, and Sun City Sasu for kidswear and fashion accessories.  Skybrands is also on board for bedding and kidswear in the Nordic region, and bedding in Germany.
Additional pan-European deals include IMC for walkie talkies and board games, Mondo for inflatables, Ferrero for Kinder Surprise Eggs, and Outright Games for a new video game set to launch in November.

Rainbow’s Zippy, Bungle, and George Celebrate 45 Years

Rainbow, the classic nostalgia brand featuring the much loved characters of Bungle, George and Zippy, aired for 20 years on ITV and now celebrates its 45th anniversary in 2017.
Coinciding with this milestone is a brand new TV ad from Pizza Hut Delivery featuring the classic characters assisting a modern family with their takeaway order. The ad launched on Sunday 1 October on Channel 4 during The Great British Bake Off. 
To celebrate the anniversary Zippy will be making an appearance at Brand Licensing Europe on Tuesday afternoon (10 October).

Outstanding Event for India

The fifth Kids India took place in Mumbai on 21 and 22 September.
In spite of the heavy monsoon rains, a total of 4,154 participants came to India’s largest B2B event for toys and children’s items to check out the products being offered by 150 exhibitors from eight countries.

Ink Highlights Five Top Brands At BLE 2017

Ink Group will present a mix of fresh and original brands on stand C70 at BLE 2017.

Italian streetwear brand GCDS has partnered up with Sanrio for the creation of a capsule FW17/18 collection featuring pop icon Hello Kitty and including hoodies, tees, wool knitted pieces, accessories and much more.
Launched on September 24th, the collection has hit GCDS stores and is available online, presenting some of the brand iconic pieces, such as the Nascar Tee and colorful fake furs with embroideries.

LMI Appointed for The Royal Armouries

Licensing Management International (LMI) has been appointed by The Royal Armouries to handle its worldwide licensing programme.
The Royal Armouries houses its world-class collection of arms and armour at its three sites in Leeds, Fort Nelson and the Tower of London. It is one of the oldest purposely created visitor attractions in the United Kingdom, with objects being arranged for display since the 16th century. Its extraordinary collection comprises about 75,000 items, with highlights including the famous armours of King Henry VIII, Indian Elephant Armour and the Great Turkish Bombard.

RSPB Serves up Bird-Friendly Coffee

As Brands with Influence continues to grow the RSPB’s licensing programme, Bird & Wild is the latest licensee to be granted a license. Bird & Wild launched their bird friendly products this summer at consumer events and through selected retail.
In the UK, 79% of UK consumers drink coffee (either ground or instant) which translates into around 55 million cups of coffee being drunk everyday (Nielsen Scantrack 2016). There seems to be no abating in this ever growing demand for new and great quality coffee. There is also a discernible shift towards Fairtrade, Organic and environmentally friendly blends.
Bird & Wild is a Certified Fairtrade, Organic, Shade Grown and Smithsonian Bird Friendly coffee brand and as part of the license will be donating a percentage of all sales of its ethical coffees to the RSPB.

Subsurf Heads to BLE

SYBO Games, the maker of the most downloaded mobile game app on the market in 2017, Subway Surfers, is readying its entertainment brand franchise, Subsurf at Brand Licensing Europe, October 10-12, 2017.

Wild Republic’s Plush Toys in Tune with the RSPB

Wild Republic has acquired the rights to produce RSPB branded soft toy birds with sound. Brands with Influence, the RSPB’s licensing agency brokered the deal, bringing Wild Republic back to work with the RPSB after a two-year break in the partnership.
Wild Republic had had many successful years selling RSPB branded birds and having gone through a process of redesigning and improving their plush, felt this was the perfect time to work together again.
Wild Republic’s Phil White commented: “As our plush and toys come with an educational slant, what better partner for us than the RSPB who themselves are continuously working hard to convey similar nature based messaging to their key audiences.   • Designing adverts and images for editorial and advertising features in industry publications
  • Designing and coordinating visuals for presentations for meetings, launches and other presentations that agents or marketing require

Crayola Is Seeking an Experienced Manager, Outbound Licensing. Located at Crayola Corporate HQ, Easton, PA

The ideal candidate will possess experience within either Toy AND/OR Publishing licensing experience.
GENERAL SUMMARY: Creates strategic direction for active licensee base and negotiates new partnerships within assigned categories to achieve growth objectives.   Directs tactical execution of licensed product lines from concept/line plan through commercialization.  


  • Manage existing licensees in assigned categories: 
    • Evaluate licensee’s quarterly marketing, retail and financial forecasts to ensure licensees on are track to meet established contractual obligations, royalty payments and forecast goals.
    • Organize and run licensee orientations, business reviews, semiannual/quarterly line reviews, and brain storm sessions.
    • Address specific licensee performance issues
    • Negotiate renewals on a timely basis
    • Provides input for annual departmental budget and plan
  • Ensure licensees develop seasonal lines in time for internal seasonal review and develop documents and presentations to communicate licensee’s initiatives to internal Crayola departments
    • Set trend direction and make recommendations for new product entry
    • Direct category research and product concept testing as needed with the consumer insights team
    • Work with creative and product development on design and creative direction for licensed product and packaging
    • Responsible for managing licensee press releases, cross marketing and promotions
    • Ensure adherence to internal approval process (i.e. safety, quality, financial, legal, content, creative, consumer activation, consumer affairs etc.) and assist in resolving issues.
  • Negotiate new licensed strategic partnerships for assigned segments in conjunction with established category strategies
    • Research, secure and develop new licensees building upon the success of existing segments in order to achieve predictable, profitable and sustainable growth
    • Negotiate deal terms including: grant of rights, royalty rates, guarantees, projections and business plans
  • 7 years’ experience in licensing or consumer marketing work for a CPG company.
  • Bachelors’ degree preferred

I have 8 years experience of working for a large London Publishing house licensing book content to third parties. I am looking for a role which utilises my skills in negotiation and relationship building and can develop my experience within the licensing field. Having licensed book content to a wide variety of customers from national Newspapers to international Publishers I would relish the experience to work in a new industry, licensing new content to new clients.
I realise that a move across from traditional publishing may mean a step down from the managerial role I was in before. I'm enthusiastic to work in a new industry and feel my skills are easily transferable and am happy to look outside licensing roles also.
