SpongeBob SquarePants is headed to Moscow, announced Nickelodeon Russia, a unit of Viacom International Media Networks. “Absorbent: A SpongeBob Exhibit” is a modern art exhibition presented by Nickelodeon in partnership with Beeline. This exhibit will be free of charge for visitors, and will run September 16 through October 2 at the Flacon Design Plant in Moscow.

“Absorbent” is Russia’s first interactive SpongeBob exhibition. Visitors will experience how the Nickelodeon character has influenced fashion, culture, and modern media. In addition to the fashion and art installations, the exhibit will include a multimedia zone.

Younger visitors can also participate in a range of SpongeBob-themed workshops. As part of the opening of the exhibit, Nickelodeon will host an exclusive auction and all proceeds will go to Naked Heart Foundation. The children’s charity builds playgrounds across Russia and develops programs for children with special needs. Visitors can also donate to Naked Heart Foundation by purchasing one-of-a-kind charity bracelets.

Nickelodeon is also building Russia’s first SpongeBob SquarePants-themed playground in one of the orphanages the Naked Heart Foundation supports. Exhibit visitors will get the chance to take a sneak peek at the playground’s designs.

SpongeBob SquarePants was first introduced to the Russian audience in 2000. “Absorbent: A SpongeBob Exhibit” was developed by Nickelodeon and global design consultancy FITCH through its studios in North America.
