Toys “R” Us Kicks Off Campaign to Benefit Autism Speaks

TRU Logo - High ResToys “R” Us Inc. has announced the launch of its “Shine A Light For Autism” in-store and online fundraising campaign to benefit Autism Speaks, the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization. Now through April 30, monetary donations will be collected at more than 870 Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us stores nationwide and online at Toysrus.com/AutismSpeaks. In addition, individuals nationwide are invited to join a “Walk Now For Autism Speaks” event in their local community, or “Walk With Geoffrey” online and personally fundraise for Autism Speaks.

All funds raised during this year’s Toys “R” Us campaign will be dedicated to supporting the Autism Speaks Community Grants program, which helps promote services that enhance the lives of those affected by autism, expand the capacity to effectively serve this growing community, and enhance the field of service providers. K’nex, the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America Take Steps to Find a Cure

K’nex Brands, the only U.S. construction toy company focused on Building Worlds Kids Love, is proud to announce that for the sixth year in a row it will donate a percentage of online sales to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA), a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to finding the cure for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

Now through April 30, 10 percent of all online sales made on www.knex.com will be donated to the CCFA. Donations are accepted with or without making a purchase.

In addition, a team of K’nex employees will be participating in the Take Steps for Crohn’s & Colitis walk in Philadelphia. These events take place at 158 walk sites across the country, where thousands of people gather every spring and summer to join the fight against digestive diseases. Mindshapes, The Jim Henson Company Launch Sid the Science Kid-Sid’s Slide to the Side

Kids and families can now take Sid the Science Kid on-the-go with a new mobile app available for iOS devices. The app, which launches today, coincides with the DVD and iTunes release of Jim Henson‘s Sid the Science Kid: The Movie, a feature-length film following the adventures of Sid and his curious friends.

This fun and interactive Appisode is a new approach to mobile learning sure to get kids engaged and entertained with their favorite franchises. The Appisode features  songs, interactive games, reinforced learning activities, and colorful characters from the Sid the Science Kid television program on PBS.

KISS Catalogue Ltd, Sanrio to Produce KISS Hello Kitty Animated Series

kiss hello kityThe Hub Network has optioned the rights to a new animated series, KISS Hello Kitty (working title).

The KISS and Hello Kitty collaboration began in 2010 with a global collection of co-branded products, from Sanrio. The collection features hundreds of licensed items across all categories, including apparel, toys, electronics, stationery, and back-to-school merchandise.

KISS Hello Kitty will feature the four KISS x Hello Kitty characters living their rock ’n roll dreams and bringing pink anarchy to a number situations. The series is in the initial stages of development and will be produced by KISS Catalogue Ltd. and Sanrio.

Season 2 of Mike The Knight Gets Greenlight from HIT Entertainment, Nelvana

HIT Entertainment and Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana have approved a second season of their preschool phenomenon, Mike the Knight.

MTK_GROUP_CastleThe second season, comprising 52 x 12-minute episodes, is in production and is set to begin delivery to broadcasters in late Spring. HIT Entertainment and Nelvana Studio will produce the series jointly. In the second season, viewers will be introduced to Mike’s father and role model, the King of Glendragon, who has been away exploring faraway lands.

Treehouse in Canada, CBeebies in the UK, and Nick Jr. in the U.S. have committed to air Season 2 of Mike the Knight starting in May in Canada, this summer in the UK, and later in the fall in the U.S.

The Goldberger Company Announces the Passing of Larry Doppelt

The Goldberger Company has announced the death of Larry Doppelt, one of the principles of the Goldberger Doll Mfg. Co., its direct predecessor. Doppelt died on March 15, at the age of 91.
