Nielsen Survey Reports Rise in Holiday Spending

Nielsen‘s 2016 holiday trend report which indicates that 19 percent of U.S. shoppers are planning to spend more time online shopping for this holiday season, an increase from 17 percent last year.  With the increase in digital shopping, the survey also predicts that 54 percent of U.S. consumers are planning to shop on Black Friday, which is a 4 percent increase from 2015. U.S. shoppers are most likely to spend more on jewelry, pet gifts, and cookware but other products such as apparel, video games, toys, electronics, and gift cards continue to remain at the top of customer’s shopping lists for Black Friday. Fifty-eight percent of shoppers have already stated that they have purchased more holiday gifts online compared to 40 percent in big-box retail stores and 25 percent in department stores. Also according to Nielsen, 63 percent of shoppers are planning to shop on their phones on Cyber Monday, a 3 percent increase from last year. Wild Republic, Project Night Night Partner to Help Homeless Children

Wild Republic and the non-profit organization Project Night Night partnered to launch its second annual holiday campaign with a non-profit project providing care packages to children in homeless shelters. The holiday campaign provides more than 25,000 care packages that include a blanket, a stuffed animal and a book. Customers who spend $35 or more on Wild Republic’s website will receive a complimentary gift and free shipping on their order until Dec. 14. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WIBE) launched the First Order Siege of Takodana Level Pack, the latest downloadable content in the LEGO Star Wars The Force Awakens Season Pass. Star Wars fans can now play the assault on Maz Kanata’s castle from the perspective of villainous Kylo Ren and lead the First Order on the attack in search of Rey and BB-8. Hasbro Launches Be Fearless Be Kind Initiative

Hasbro launched Be Fearless Be Kind, the company’s newest philanthropic initiative designed to inspire and empower kids to have the compassion, empathy, and courage to stand up for others and be inclusive throughout their lives. This initiative builds upon the work that Hasbro and the Hasbro Children’s Fund collaboration with generationOn, the youth service division of Points of Light. Be Fearless Be Kind features online resources, partnerships, and campaigns with the common goal of creating a new generation of kids that includes everyone and appreciate differences. Parents can access tools and resources through an online hub that features a toolkit, articles, and videos to teach children about kindness and empathy. As part of the initiative, Hasbro and generationON will host their annual Joy Maker Challenge to encourage kids to spread joy and kindness to people in need during the holidays. For every child that participates in the challenge between Nov. 21 through Dec. 23, Hasbro will donate a toy to Toys for Tots. Hasbro and generationON also launched the Rules of Kindness campaign, which invites kids and teens to create their own rules of kindness plan and put their plan into action to spread kindness to others.  The campaign, which ran Sept. 1 through Oct. 17, inspired more than 110,000 youth from eight countries to share their rules and action plans.
