David Gibson Wins 2016 North American Scrabble Championship

The North American Scrabble Players Association crowned David Gibson of South Carolina as the winner of the 2016 North American Scrabble Championship. Gibson outscored 400 other Scrabble players, including previous champions Matthew Tunnicliffe and Joel Sherman, and holds the title for the second time, first winning in 1994. He won the championship trophy and $10,000. Players proceeded through spelling ranks according to their records and points scored against opponents. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment released the first downloadable content for the Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens season pass. The Prequel Trilogy Character Pack allows players to play as characters such as Anakin Skywalker, Darth Maul, Jango Fett, Jar Jar Binks, Padme Naberrie, Captain Panaka, and more. Toys “R” Us Searches for President of Play

Toys “R” Us launched a nationwide hunt to fill the company’s newest job: President of Play. One kid between ages 9 to 13 will be selected to to spend a year playing with new toys and games and provide recommendations to parents and gift-givers. He or she will also serve as a Toys “R” Us spokesperson, sharing toy trends with online and promotional videos and attending events across the country. Parents are encouraged to nominate their kids and submit a one- to two-minute video of their kid discussing their favorite toy or game. Nominees should be comfortable on camera, confident, well-spoken, and a toy lover. In order to be chosen, entries should be submitted before 11:59pm EST on August 17, 2016. The semifinalists chosen will be chosen to participate in an interview and audition with a panel of judges, followed by a public vote. IAmElemental will ship its Series 2/Wisdom figures next month. Scholastic, American Girl Sign Global Publishing Deal

Scholastic will launch a publishing program based on the American Girl brand. The multi-year agreement includes the right to publish books in print and digital formats in 2017, and the deal marks the first time that American Girl has licensed the rights to publish books based on its characters. The books will be published and distributed in the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, the UK, Australia, and Asia. Tiles will span for ages 5 to 12 and includes publishing for the popular Girl of the Year line, which will include each character’s novels and new formats for current and previously-released Girl of the Year characters. Hasbro to Launch Furby Connect this Fall

Hasbro introduced the digitally-integrated Furby Connect, the newest product from the Furby brand. The Furby Connect uses Bluetooth technology to connect with kids through video clips, songs, phrases, and more. The new Furby reacts to sound and touch, and speaks more than 1,000 phrases. It also knows what day it is, the time of day, and will say phrases that correspond to the different points of the day. With the Furby World Connect app, owners can use Bluetooth to play and interact with their Furbies. In addition, Hasbro has teamed up with Kidz Bop and Junkin Media to create music and videos content. Sequel to Wreck-It Ralph Will Hit Theaters March 2018

A sequel to Disney‘s Wreck-It Ralph is set to hit theaters on March, 9 2018.
