Lego Group Unveils Lego Star Wars Model in Times Square

image001The Lego Group unveiled the world’s largest Lego model, a 1:1 replica of the Lego Star Wars X-Wing Starfighter, in New York’s Times Square today. To celebrate the upcoming premiere of The Yoda Chronicles on Cartoon Network on May 29 at 8:00 p.m., the massive replica took 32 master builders, five million Lego bricks and over 17,000 hours to complete. The model weighs nearly 46,000 pounds, stands 11 feet tall and 43 feet long, with a wingspan of 44 feet. The model will “take off” for a summer landing at Legoland California Resort where it will be installed through the remainder of the year.

Lego Star Wars is the original licensed product collection from The Lego Group and remains among the best-selling global toy lines. The theme appeals to fans across generations with a steady introduction of digital content such as The Yoda Chronicles to compliment the building experience.

Hansa and Zinger Launch Plush-TV In-store Signage to Retailers

ZINGER DIGITAL SIGNSHansa North America launched of their new Plush-TV signage channel to its more than 900 retail dealers in the U.S. and Canada. Plush-TV is an in-store entertainment channel, branded for each retailer, and shown to their shoppers. Hansa features more than 5,000 designs of individually handcrafted, realistic animals. Hansa’s products are sold worldwide in collectables and gift  shops, museums, toys stores, zoos, and retailers, such as FAO Schwartz.

Plush-TV’s entertaining and educational content is focused on the animal kingdom in their natural habitat. Plush-TV was developed by Zinger Digital Signs. Zinger customizes Plush-TV signage for each retailers’ requirements. Zinger brands with each retailer with banners, advertisements, and interactive content. Plush-TV also showcases each retailer’s Hansa store inventory. Shoppers can interact with the Plush-TV using QR codes and texting. Zinger Digital Signs manages the content and equipment for each retailer.

Miami Children’s Hospital Patients Go on a Safari with Safari Ltd

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERASafari Ltd, family-owned manufacturer and worldwide distributor of museum-quality, educational toys, distributed more than 300 figures at Miami Children’s Hospital on May 21. Two Safari Ltd employees dressed up as jungle safari guides, handed out the toys, and played with the children.

Last December, Safari Ltd donated more than 2,000 toys to Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation’s annual Holiday Toy Drive, benefiting children spending their holidays in the hospital.

Safari Ltd is an educational toy company, renowned for their dedication to and continued support of learning through the joy of play.

Matt Hatter Gets Dressed Up with VMC

The dress-up collection will include the Matt Hatter hero costume inspired by the dimension-hopping gear worn by Matt Hatter in the popular ITV adventure comedy series. The costume, with a core target of children ages 5 to 10, is perfect for parties and events or imaginative play.

As well as authentic Matt Hatter dress-up costumes, VMC will also offer a range of Matt Hatter accessories including hats, caps, scarves, gloves, and sunglasses, all featuring signature characters and inspirational theming, and designed exclusively for each retailer. COMMENTARY: “Old Fashioned” Board Games Still Bring the Competition

I like to play a board game every now and then. These days, pulling out a thin cardboard box filled with a folded board, loose cards, and player pieces happens less frequently, and often takes some convincing on my part for my prospective opponents. However, it wasn’t always that way, and while kids today have a plethora of entertainment options to choose from, the classic board game still has a fan base. The features and effects—not to mention appearance—of games may have evolved, but a good old-fashioned friendly competition around the table is still a great way for families to connect.

This is one of my favorites. Up to four players start with four pawns in their start space. Players must draw a 1 or 2 to leave the start space (for each pawn). Delta Children and K.I.D.S. Donate Cribs to Families in Need

Caring for others event in ATL sponsored by Delta Childrens products.Delta Children, a 45-year old family business, will donate new cribs, valued at $60,000, to Caring For Others, Inc. in Atlanta, where the cribs will be distributed to pre-registered families in need. On May 21, recipient families will arrive at Caring For Others to receive the cribs and learn about crib safety. The donation was made possible via the help of Kids in Distressed Situations (K.I.D.S.), a non-profit organization that connects companies and children in need.

A Safe Sleep demonstration will be held at Caring For Others, Inc., where Joseph Shamie, Delta Children’s president and K.I.D.S. board member, will stress the importance of a safe crib and offer tips to the families.

Delta Children has made it its mission to help families nationwide provide safe sleep environments for their children. This is part of a larger donation made to K.I.D.S. by Delta, who promised to donate cribs, valued at $1 million, to the organization.

K.I.D.S. will implement the distribution of the cribs on behalf of Delta Children to the families in need.
