Brand Licensing Europe is entering the Barbie World.
The annual European licensing and brand extension event announced that its keynote presentation will focus on the life, cultural impact, and future of Barbie. Delivered by Mattel president and chief operating officer Richard Dickson.
“Barbie is one of the world’s greatest fashion and licensing icons, collaborating with everyone from Balmain, Karl Lagerfield, Moschino, and Diane von Furstenberg, to M.A.C. and River Island,” says Anna Knight, senior vice president of licensing at Informa Markets. “And, like all fashion icons, she has evolved, disrupted, inspired, and led from the front — she is the perfect star to take center stage during BLE’s fashion-themed year.”
In his Barbie x Fashion keynote, Dickson will lead BLE visitors on a rollercoaster ride by looking at Barbie’s legacy to date and the opportunities that lie ahead of her. Dickson first joined Mattel in 2000 and has led the company’s portfolio of global brands by overseeing innovation strategy, design and development, and brand marketing. Additionally, he oversees franchise management, which encompasses live events, digital gaming, and more.
Brand Licensing Europe runs from September 20 to 22, with Dickson’s keynote speech taking place at 1 pm on September 20. Registration is free and currently open here.
