Super 4 Gets Distributor in Italy and Latin America

Super4PGS Entertainment has secured broadcast deals with Cartoon Network in Italy and Latin America for the new animated series Super 4. Inspired by Playmobil’s universe, Super 4 is a CGI comedy-adventure that marks the first time the children’s brand has come to TV.

Super 4 is produced by Method Animation and morgen studios, with France Télévisions as commissioning broadcaster. PGS represents the series in all territories.

New Zeenie Dollz Animated Web Series Arrives in Time for Earth Day

ZeenielogoOn April 3, Zeenie Dollz will launch a new animated webisode series introducing its six “eco-warriors”:  Zennia, Yana, Evee, Kazumi, Lina, and Sini. The webisodes add to the continued expansion of the brand and offer another educational tool for parents to teach children about both preserving the environment and the power of teamwork.

Created in collaboration with Brandberry, each webisode will be two to three minutes long and take the Zeenies on eco-themed adventures. “A New Addition” will be available both on the Zeenie Dollz website and their YouTube channel.

 

PBS Kids, National Recreation and Park Association Partner for Explore the Outdoors Campaign

Screen Shot 2014-03-12 at 10.56.37 AMPBS Kids and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) have partnered again for their annual Explore the Outdoors campaign. PBS Kids will air themed programming and launch online and mobile content beginning April 7 in celebration of Earth Month. PBS member stations and NRPA member parks will also host events throughout the month to encourage families to participate in educational outdoor activities and explorations.

In addition to eco-themed programming weeks and the premiere of The Cyberchase Movie, Earth Day themed episodes will play on PBS Kids on April 22. The season 3 premiere of Wild Kratts will begin on April 7, where episodes throughout the week will show the brothers exploring animals throughout the globe. Arthur’s Outdoor Week kicks off on April 21 and will include the premiere of two new episodes. The episodes will focus on teaching values, patience, sharing, teamwork, and the power of imagination.

The Plum Landing website will launch on April 21. Plum Landing is a new digital project produced by WGBH that uses animated webisodes, online games, free apps, hands-on science activities, and live-action videos. The goal of the website is to teach young kids about nature, ecosystems, and encourage them to be a caretakers of their planet. The webisodes will feature Plum, a purple alien from Planet Blorb, and her five earthling friends going on adventures and exploring ecosystems. Kids can play animated games in the same setting.

PBS Kids will premiere the The Cyberchase Movie in mid-April. The movie will be an eco-themed one-hour special that includes environmental and math topics. Three online games will debut on the Cyberchase website.

Rabbids Product Line to Include Books

NICKELODEON RAVING RABBIDSUbisoft and Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing have teamed up to expand Rabbids to a full line of books. The line will be based on the video game franchise and TV show Rabbids Invasion on Nickelodeon.

Simon Spotlight, part of Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing, will produce chapter books, beginning reader books, joke books, and novelty books for the line. They will be available in hardcover, paperback, and e-book versions this summer in the U.S. and Canada.

Sega Kicks Off New Era of Toys and Games with a Sonic Boom

SonicBoomlogoSega will launch a new branch of its Sonic the Hedgehog universe entitled Sonic Boom, which will be accompanied by a CG animated TV series, video games for the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS, new toys from Tomy, and more. To date, the character has appeared in more than 70 video game titles across a span of more than 20 years.

During a press event this past Thursday in New York City, the upcoming TV series was introduced as a character-driven comedy featuring lots of action and adventure. It consists of 52 11-minute episodes, and will debut in both the U.S. and France during the 2014 to 2015 season. “What we try to do is take the character and put them in situations where their personalities take center stage, and take us in interesting directions,” said showrunner and executive producer Evan Baily. The Lego Group, FCP Launch The Simpsons-Branded Lego Set

Jan13.SimpsonsThe Lego Group has partnered with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products (FCP) to produce a construction set and licensed Lego minifigures inspired by the TV series The Simpsons. Fox will also air a special Lego episode of The Simpsons in May coinciding with the new products. The episode will feature the cast in Lego form.

The construction set will recreate the Simpsons’ family house, including the characters Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie, and Ned Flanders. It is set to launch in February in Lego stores and the Lego Shop at Home catalog and website. A separate line of 16 Lego The Simpsons minifigures will launch at mass toy retailers in May.

Spin Master’s Paw Patrol Helps Boost Nickelodeon’s Ratings

paw-patrol-post-2Spin Master‘s Paw Patrol helped to tip the scales in Nickelodeon‘s favor, making it the children’s TV network leader in the battle between Disney and Nickelodeon for kids share, according to a report on Bloomberg News. The battle between these two large players grew even more after last year’s debut of Disney Junior, a channel aimed a preschoolers watching Nick Jr.

Nickelodeon cited Nielsen data that reported it averaging 918,000 viewers a day among kids ages 2 to 11 in the fourth quarter through December 15 compared to The Disney Channel’s 874,000 viewers. According to the Bloomberg News article, the ratings shift, is accelerating ad sales for Viacom, which posted its best quarterly growth in at least two years last month. The battle between the largest players in children’s TV intensified last year after the debut of Disney Junior, a channel aimed at preschoolers who watch Nick Jr.

Barbie Goes Mermaid in Upcoming Video Release

Barbie.ThePearlPrincessThe latest movie featuring Barbie is set for home video release next March. In Barbie: The Pearl Princess, from Universal Studios Home Entertainment, the famous fashion doll from Mattel stars as Lumina, a mermaid who dreams of being a princess.

As long as Lumina can remember, she’s had the magical power to make pearls dance and glow. Along with her best friend Kuda, a pink seahorse, she embarks on an adventure to a mer-kingdom, where Lumina uses her powers to help her friends prepare for the Royal Ball—and to unlock her true destiny.

Barbie: The Pearl Princess will be released on Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD on March 11.

Monster High Releases New Monster High: 13 Wishes DVD

MonsterHighMonster High: 13 Wishes was released on October 8, in partnership with Universal Pictures. This third feature-length film from Monster High introduces a new ghoul, Gigi Grant, who comes to Monster High to grant the ghouls 13 wishes. There will be a line of themed dolls, toys, and a video game available at retailers nationwide. Monster High: 13 Wishes is available on both DVD and Blu-Ray.

Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood Features “Neighbor Day”

On September 2, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood featured an episode called “Neighbor Day”. Daniel’s first good deed started a chain reaction of kindness all around the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, culminating with King Friday’s proclamation of an official Neighbor Day.

It also marked the one-year anniversary of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. Daniel Tiger and his friends O the Owl, Katerina Kittycat, and Miss Elaina debuted on TV last Labor Day.

“Neighbor Day” showed preschoolers that doing something nice for their neighbors can be a rewarding experience that makes them feel good about themselves. Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood was inspired by Fred Rogers.
