Monster High: 13 Wishes was released on October 8, in partnership with Universal Pictures. This third feature-length film from Monster High introduces a new ghoul, Gigi Grant, who comes to Monster High to grant the ghouls 13 wishes. There will be a line of themed dolls, toys, and a video game available at retailers nationwide. Monster High: 13 Wishes is available on both DVD and Blu-Ray.
On September 2, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood featured an episode called “Neighbor Day”. Daniel’s first good deed started a chain reaction of kindness all around the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, culminating with King Friday’s proclamation of an official Neighbor Day.
It also marked the one-year anniversary of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. Daniel Tiger and his friends O the Owl, Katerina Kittycat, and Miss Elaina debuted on TV last Labor Day.
“Neighbor Day” showed preschoolers that doing something nice for their neighbors can be a rewarding experience that makes them feel good about themselves. Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood was inspired by Fred Rogers.
Tickety Toc, the new Nick Jr. series from Zodiak Rights, arrives on DVD for the first time from Anchor Bay Entertainment. Chime Time Adventures is the debut Tickety Toc title, and will be available nationwide this September in time for the back-to-school season.
Tickety Toc follows the everyday adventures of 6-year-old twins, Tommy and Tallulah, as they work to “chime the time” and keep everything running smoothly in Tickety Town. Traveling through the Tickety Toc clock, where Tommy and Tallulah live, audiences enter a CGI world of eclectic characters and tag along on escapades filled with surprises. Tommy and Tallulah’s strong “can do” spirit often produces an unanticipated outcome, but their individual approach to sticky situations and joint resourcefulness always shine through and saves the day. In Chime Time Adventures, the Tick Tocketeers attempt daring circus acts, wow a crowd with amazing magic tricks, play a giant game of Tickety-Tag and delight in a messy photo day. The premiere title features episodes, “Story Time,” “Painting Time,” “Show Time,” “Bath Time,” “Photo Time”, and “Play Time.”
Build-A-Bear Workshop is expanding its My Little Pony collection with the launch of Princess Twilight Sparkle under license from Hasbro Inc. Princess Twilight Sparkle and her trusted assistant Spike the Dragon are now available at Build-A-Bear Workshop stores throughout North America and online at buildabear.com.
The company’s licensing relationship with Hasbro allows guests to engage with the characters and uniquely personalize the ponies. Guests can complete the signature look for Princess Twilight Sparkle with a variety of fashions including a My Little Pony Coronation Cape, Gold Bow Flats, a My Little Pony Friendship is Magic theme song that can be added to any stufffed animal, and a Rainbow Brush.
Disney Consumer Products (DCP) has announced a product collection inspired by Disneytoon Studios’ high-flying adventure, Disney’s Planes, with products that leverage technology and interactivity from Disney Store and companies, including Mattel, Thinkway, and Jay Franco. With track sets for side-by-side racing and stunts and launchers, kids will be able to recreate their favorite racing moments from the film. Fueling imagination and role play, the line also includes R/C planes that kids can guide with flight controllers that mirror their own body movements. The planes can be programmed to talk, and move and turn with a programmable joystick. A collection from Disney Store and DisneyStore.com, as well as an assortment of fashion, home décor, lifestyle, and publishing products, rounds out the collection for fans of this new comedy-adventure from above the world of Cars.
Disney’s Planes is set for release in theaters August 9, and takes off with Dusty (voiced by Dane Cook), a small town dreamer who longs to enter the most epic around-the-world air race despite his fear of heights.
JumpStart launched its newest educational multiplayer online game, School of Dragons. The game is based on DreamWorks Animation’s How To Train Your Dragon franchise, and is one of the first massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPG) to incorporate basic science educational features in its gameplay.
School of Dragons blends together three fields—film, online games, and TV—to create an online gaming experience for kids, allowing players to interact, play, and learn with familiar faces from the animated film, such as Hiccup and his dragon Toothless. As players train their own dragons and become fierce Viking adventurers in the game, they will learn key concepts in the scientific method through activities based on earth, life, and physical sciences. Later this summer, School of Dragons will incorporate simultaneous mobile and online gameplay.
JumpStart officially launched School of Dragons at Comic-Con International. Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment also announced the DVD release of the TV series DreamWorks Dragons: Riders of Berk. The two-part DVD will be available everywhere July 23. Loaded with exciting bonus content, Disc One will contain Episodes 1 through 11, and Disc Two will feature Episodes 12 through 20. Fans that purchase the DVD will be able to unlock exclusive content in School of Dragons.
School of Dragons can be played online through a limited free account or by paid, full game subscription.
Ubisoft‘s Rabbids will make their TV debut in Nickelodeon‘s CG-animated series Rabbids Invasion, premiering August 3 at 11:30 a.m. The 26 half-hour episodes will follow the unpredictable creatures as they discover, explore, and often wreak havoc in the human world. All episodes will be available on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Xbox Video, PlayStation Store, Samsung Media Hub, and Vudu starting the day after they air. The series will also debut on Nickelodeon channels internationally beginning this fall.
During the premiere, “Omelet Party,” the Rabbids stumble across a farm and become fascinated with the chickens’ ability to lay eggs. Next in “Rabbid Mollusk,” the Rabbids find questionable uses for a starfish and an octopus while disrupting an old man’s attempt to clean the windows. In “Rabbid, Are You There?,” the Rabbids become fascinated watching a burglar attempt to rob an apartment while unknowingly assisting with a fortune-teller’s reading on the floor below.
Beginning July 17, viewers can log on to Nick.com/rabbids to access photo galleries featuring the world travels of the Rabbids, animated gifs, and videos of the upcoming series. The Nick app joins in on the mischievous fun, featuring Rabbids-themed comedic disruptions in the funny, and surprising Do Not Touch button. The Hub Network, a destination for kids and their families, adds to its summer lineup by presenting the animated series from Steven Spielberg Tiny Toon Adventures on July 1 at 6 p.m. PT. The series will air weekdays at 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. ET.
In the series, a new generation of young cartoon characters attend Acme Acres Looniversity, where they embark on a series of off-the-wall adventures, while learning the basics of comedy from their Looney Tunes mentors. Nickelodeon and KidKraft have partnered to create a line of designer wooden toys, doll furniture, and accessories featuring Dora from the Dora the Explorer series. The new line of products includes a lifelike kitchen and dollhouse, both standing at almost four feet tall.
Dora’s Dollhouse features 13 wooden crafted furniture pieces and colorful artwork to reflect the animated style throughout the Dora the Explorer series. Similar to the dollhouse, the Dora Kitchen is made of wood, includes a removable sink for quick and easy cleaning, convenient storage space under the sink, functional cabinet doors that open, and wooden pegs for cooking accessories
The Dora Kitchen and Dollhouse are available this summer. Additionally, doll furniture and accessories will be introduced to the line later this year.
Nostalgia is a growing trend in the toy and licensing industry, but recently many classic brands have been given a modern reboot. The modernized take on classic brands offer fun for consumers both young and old, spanning generations and providing licensees with multiple new opportunities. Today, some modernized takes on old favorites live along side their predecessors.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT), for example, launched in the 1980s. A huge, revolutionary boys’ property, the brand was given a reboot last year when a new TMNT animated series launched in September on Nickelodeon.
