Jazwares has signed the master toy rights for FremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment’s pre-school series, Tree Fu Tom. Patch Products is bringing France’s popular Chrono Bomb game to the U.S. The game is a secret spy mission, where kids use included clamps and a string to create a pretend laser field to crawl through. Kids must make it to the end of the maze to defuse the bomb, which will tick down faster if the string is bumped.
The game encourages kids to get up and move around. Different courses can be played, or kids can race each other against the clock to see who can diffuse the bomb the quickest. Kids can also use a smartphone to download a free companion app, where they can scan special cards to receive extra secret missions.

The New Nintendo 3DS XL system will launch in the U.S. on February 13, according to a Nintendo Direct presentation today. The upcoming system features a wider range of controls with the addition of a C Stick and ZL/ZR buttons, super-stable 3-D via face-tracking technology, and built-in NFC functionality that allows for communication with amiibo figures.
The system also enhances certain games like Super Smash Bros. with amiibo functionality, faster processing speeds, and more control options when compared to the Nintendo 3DS system. In addition to the standard New Red and New Black, two other New Nintendo 3DS XL designs will be available at launch: one featuring artwork inspired by the soon-to-be-released The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D, and one based on Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, available exclusively at GameStop with the game pre-installed.
This October, Scholastic will publish a new, fully illustrated hardcover edition of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, marking the first time a fully illustrated Harry Potter book has been published.

Today, Disney Consumer Products unveiled exclusive details about the new global toy lines for Disney∙Pixar’s Inside Out and The Good Dinosaur, debuting theatrically in the U.S. on June 19, and November 25, respectively. Both movies will feature toy lines from licensee Tomy.
Tomy’s toy line for Inside Out will include poseable character figures with light-up features, and all of the toys allow for self-expression and re-creation of key movie moments. The toy range for The Good Dinosaur appeals to kids of all ages, for both action figure play and more sophisticated remote control walking and talking. The unique characteristics of the film’s dinosaurs, such as how they move and run, are reflected in the toy line. [Read more...]

Sani Toys, a group of South Carolina-based inventors represented by the service company InventHelp, has developed and patented a toybox that sanitizes toys via germ-killing light.
The automatic device resembles a conventional toybox, and features a flip-up lid with a self-locking latch and self-timer, as well as germicidal rod lights located on both the underside of the lid and the interior base. A horizontal, clear shelf holds the toys, and perforated holes let the light shine through. The interior walls are reflective to maximize the light’s effectiveness, and a removable mesh basket holds small toys, cars, building blocks, or other small items. [Read more...]

DreamHut features a compact design that opens up to reveal a play area, which can also convert into an armoire when playtime is done. It contains a playroom with a chalkboard, magnetic walls, a folding table, windows, curtains, and an interchangeable backdrop with four options: underwater adventure, fantasy, countryside, and outer space. When closed, the Dream Hut is about four and a half feet high and two feet wide; when opened, it expands to nearly six feet in depth. Techno Source is exhibiting Kurio Motion 2.0 games at the 2015 International CES show in Las Vegas. Kurio Motion 2.0 games allow kids to compete against their friends and family, race against a virtual player, or even play cooperatively with one another. Each game has three levels that gets kids jumping, running, and moving their bodies as they dance, raft down rivers, race, and more. Eight Kurio Motion 2.0 games will be available for all Kurio devices this fall, and additional applications are in development.
Built for kids, the Kurio line of Android devices introduced the first single player body-controlled games on a tablet. Kurio Motion technology detects players’ movements through the tablet’s front-facing camera. Kurio Motion 2.0 games feature advanced movement recognition technology with more sensitive motion detection functionality.
