The fourth direct-to-DVD Monster High release, Monster High: Frights, Camera, Action! is now available at retailers. Centered on Draculaura, the film introduces new ghouls Elissabat, Honey Swamp, Viperine Gorgon, and Clawdia Wolf.
Monster High: Frights, Camera, Action! is being accompanied by a line of new character themed dolls.
For the second consecutive year, Activision Publishing Inc. and McDonald’s USA LLC are teaming up for a Skylanders Happy Meal program. Through April 24, participating McDonald’s restaurants in the U.S. and Puerto Rico will launch a new Skylanders Happy Meal featuring one of eight exclusive toys inspired by Skylanders Swap Force.
Customers who purchase a Happy Meal will receive one of eight toys, each with a unique play feature, as well as coupons for discounts off the Skylanders Swap Force Starter Pack and a Skylanders character. The Happy Meal figurines are inspired by the fan-favorite characters Chompy, Eruptor, Free Ranger, Freeze Blade, Magna Charge, Prism Break, Rattle Shake, and Wash Buckler.
Discovery Communications, in partnership with app developer Fuzzy Frog, has created Real Scary Spiders, a game that allows users to interact with a pet spider through an augmented reality experience on an app. Players can collect, nurture, and raise spiders, and will eventually unlock new breeds and learn interesting facts through gameplay.
Users can transport their spiders onto a target image in the real world, such as the cover of a magazine or wall, which uses the app’s augmented reality feature. In addition, players can purchase the Animal Planet Web Blasting Tarantula exclusively at Toys “R” Us stores nationwide to activate an additional interconnected experience within the app.
The Animal Planet Real Scary Spiders app is available for free across all iOS and Android digital devices.
Famosa has created three new play sets for the spring season, all suitable for kids ages 3 and up. The Pinypon AquaPark Adventure features a working water slide, a jacuzzi that makes bubbles, and a lazy river ride with a wave maker and inner tubes. The set also comes with a rare curly haired PinyPon that changes color in the water. The AquaPark Adventure is available on amazon.com and in stores.
The Nenuco Bath Time play set includes a soft-bodied doll with fast dry material, specifically made for fun in the bathtub. It also comes with bath toys and an inner tube. The product is on sale nationwide, including at Toys “R” Us and amazon.com. The Nenuco Let’s Play School play set comes with a doll dressed in a school theme complete with lesson plans, a desk for the doll, and matching teacher and doll glasses. It is for sale at walmart.com, amazon.com, and both national chains and online.
The Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved video game by Disney Interactive and Harmonix Music Systems will include multi-player gameplay, an all-new realm, and new songs from award-winning artists, including Lorde and David Bowie. The two-player game is played in cooperation through friendly competition. Players can collaborate and choose unique remix paths to discover new melodies and beats in the songs.
Disney and Harmonix have also revealed “The Hollow,” an all-new interactive discovery realm. When users perform songs, they will interact with the world to add light, color, and characters to the forest environment.
Innovation First International, in cooperation with developer Behaviour Interactive, has launched the Hexbug Havoc game on the Apple App Store. The app allows users to choose their own Nano V2 to play each mission on a race track that is filled with horizontal tracks and vertical tubes filled with collectibles, power-ups, obstacles, and enemy Hexbugs.
The game features swipe, tap, and jump controls; battle missions; and a range of different tracks and Nano V2 elements unlockable through game play. The game can also be accessed through Game Center, where players can challenge friends and post their scores to Facebook and Twitter.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games, and The Lego Group will release the second installment of the Lego Ninjago franchise, Lego Ninjago: Nindroids, to the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita this summer. Hellbent Games developed the sequel in partnership with TT Games.
The game will feature 30 fast-paced, action-packed levels that follow key plot scenarios featured in the Lego Ninjago Rebooted animated series. Players get to use vehicles such as the Kai Fighter, special moves, combo attacks, and secret weapons like Technoblades to solve puzzles and defend New Ninjago city.
Stan Weston created the original Captain Action figure in 1966 for Ideal Toys. It came equipped with a wardrobe of costumes, allowing Captain Action to become many different heroes such as Batman, The Lone Ranger, and the Green Hornet. The line proved popular that it was expanded to include a sidekick, Action Boy, and villain, Dr. Evil. The first wave of new toys will include Captain Action, Action Boy, Dr. Evil, and the Silver Streak vehicle.
Razor USA LLC has launched the Razor Trickshare app, a free download designed for both iOS and Android. The app was created to allow kids to learn and share tricks and moves that are possible on a scooter. It is available for download at iTunes and at Google Play.
The Tricktionary part of the app includes images of scooter tricks such as the backflip or tailwhip, and allows fans to take a photograph of themselves doing the same trick and to create an online Team Razor Trick Card to share with friends.
