Konami Exhibits Upcoming Yu-Gi-Oh! Products at GAMA Trade Show

YuGiOhKonami Digital Entertainment Inc. showcased its product portfolio, including 2014 Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game products, at the Game Manufacturers Association’s annual trade show in Las Vegas on March 19 to 20. The latest Yu-Gi-Oh! cards include the Legacy of the Valiant: Deluxe Edition line, which came out earlier this month and features nine booster packs, foil versions, promotional sleeves, and preview cards of upcoming cards.

Meanwhile, the Premium Gold set will hit store shelves on March 28 and includes rare and never released cards. The last product for spring release is the Dragons of Legend booster packs, debuting on April 25, which contain cards from all four seasons of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TV show.

Little Orbit to Publish How To Train Your Dragon 2 Video Game

March19.Dragons2Little Orbit has partnered with DreamWorks Animation to bring the How to Train Your Dragon 2 video game to consoles across major platforms. The release of the game will coincide with the theatrical release of How to Train Your Dragon 2 this June.

The game lets players go on an adventure as a dragon rider, and features tournament events, mini-games, training exercises, and characters from the movie. It was developed by Torus Games and will be available for the Xbox 360, Nintendo 3DS, Wii, Wii U, and Playstation 3.

Funko Releases Wacky Wobblers for The Walking Dead

WalkingDead.FunkoWhile The Walking Dead’s fourth season has come to an end, Funko LLC has a new set of Wacky Wobblers bobble head figures to fill the gruesome void left in viewers (which hopefully weren’t caused by zombie maws). The set features Daryl Dixon sporting his leather biker jacket and armed with a crossbow. In addition, there’s Merle Dixon in both living and walker style, the latter having the requisite bloody mouth and head wounds.

WWE Slam City Launches with Mattel Toy Line

WWESlamCityMattel Inc. and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) recently launched WWE Slam City, a new kids property that includes a complete line of WWE Slam City merchandise as well as an original animated short-form series co-produced by WWE and Mattel’s Playground Productions. WWE Slam City toys, including action figures, ring sets and more, are currently available at major retail stores. In addition to toys, books and graphic novels will be available by year’s end, while a WWE Slam City mobile game will be in stores next year.

Episodes will be aired on WWESlamCity.com, Cartoonium, and YouTube in addition to TV broadcasts, live events, digital version, and social media. Other platforms include Hulu, Mattel.com, iTunes, and Playstation.

The series was filmed in the next generation of stop-motion animation. A new WWE animated character will fire all of the WWE Superstars and send them to Slam City to find day jobs. The characters, including John Cena, Randy Orton, and Sheamus will have a new lifestyle outside of the ring but will stay true to their personas.

Nickelodeon to Launch Nick Jr. App

March17.NickJrAppThe same Nickelodeon digital team that created the Nick App has developed the new Nick Jr. App, which will launch this spring. The app is designed specifically for preschoolers and will feature educational activities, a high level of interactivity, short-form video and curriculum-based content, and full-length on-demand episodes and live streaming of Nick Jr. with authentication.

The Nick Jr. App includes the television series Dora the Explorer, Team Umizoomi, Bubble Guppies, PAW Patrol, Peter Rabbit, Wallykazam!, Go, Diego, Go!, Max & Ruby, The Fresh Beat Band, The Backyardigans, and Blues Clues.

The app will be available for the iPad at the App Store and will roll out on additional platforms in the coming months.

Flightplan Aims Higher with On The Nose, Wave Two

ForeverAmber.jpgFlightplan Collectibles will deliver Wave Two of its On The Nose line of commemorative, 1/6 scale statuettes for aviation enthusiasts beginning this spring. The first series of Wave Two went into production in mid-February, and includes Tropical Trollop and Forever Amber.

Compared to Wave One, the second wave features a more compact package, larger certification cards, and seated statues that come already attached to the base for greater stability. The second series of Wave Two will go into production in May for delivery in July, and will feature Going My Way and Lucky Lady.

Warner Bros. Throws Down Gauntlet, This Time for Digital Game Service

GauntletAn updated action-RPG version of the classic dungeon crawler, Gauntlet, will be available this summer via Steam for PC. Courtesy of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, it will lead the launch of WB Games Vault, a direct-to-digital portfolio that will deliver paid games based on popular Warner Bros. and Midway brands across multiple digital networks.

Developed by Arrowhead Game Studios, Gauntlet lets players select from four classic fantasy-based characters: Warrior, Wizard, Valkyrie, or Elf. Each character has its own unique strengths and weaknesses. Meanwhile, gameplay is set within dungeons where the object is to fight through the chambers, slaying evil creatures and completing challenges.
