What Do Bloggers Want? Part I

The number of bloggers attending Toy Fair has dramatically increased over the past five years. However, from the numerous conversations I’ve had with industry colleagues and bloggers alike, there is significant confusion about the most effective means of working together.

To clarify these misconceptions, I interviewed Debbie Bookstaber, a leading parent blogger and the publisher of Mamanista, who was recently named one of the “25 Parent Bloggers Who Are Changing The World” by Babble.com. A thought leader in the social space, Bookstaber has spoken at many blogger conferences, including SXSW, BlogHer, Type-A Parent, Springboard, and Affiliate Summit. She has worked extensively in the toy industry with associations, toy companies and brands. Calling Young Portal Masters: Celebrate New York Toy Fair with Skylanders Giants

Months before the Skylanders Giants character Ninjini hits retail shelves, kids and their families are invited to Toys “R” Us to get their hands on the character, while supplies last. To celebrate the American International Toy Fair taking place in New York City this month, Activision Publishing Inc. and Toys “R” Us are partnering to host a special event at Toys “R” Us Times Square, the company’s international flagship store, on February 5 at 4 p.m. The first fans to line up along Broadway for the event will have an opportunity to receive a complimentary Ninjini figure before it is officially available for purchase in North America.

Also at the event, kids will have the opportunity to meet their favorite Skylanders characters, experience the year’s most popular game at in-store game kiosks, and receive other fun Skylanders Giants giveaways.

NumbersAlive! to Debut Internationally at Toy Fairs in Germany, NYC

NumbersAlive!, a suite of playful plush toys, travel books with educational activities, and games to improve numerical literacy, will debut internationally at two toy fairs. NumbersAlive! travels first to Nuremberg, Germany, for the Spielwarenmesse International Toy Fair, held from January 30 to February 4, and next to New York City for the Toy Industry Association’s American International Toy Fair, held from February 10 to 13.

The coordinated NumbersAlive! products develop creativity and inquiry skills as children encounter numerical linkages in shapes, quantities, patterns, names, and order—the basics of mathematical and scientific thinking.

Kids Preferred Brings Celebrated Folk Legend Peter Yarrow to Toy Fair 2013

Kids Preferred, one of the leading U.S. children’s toy and gift manufacturers, is proud to announce that legendary folk singer Peter Yarrow will return to their booth (No. 2167) at the American International Toy Fair, located at the Jacob K. Hasbro Prepares to Unveil Iron Man 3 Line

Hasbro, Inc.,  has expanded its Marvel Iron Man 3 line with the Iron Assemblers 3.75-inch action figure assortment. Each figure features an Interchangeable Armor System, allowing one figure to create more than 25 armor combinations and allowing armor to be switched out between the 16 available figures in the line to create hundreds of additional combinations. The assortment is suitable for kids ages 4 and up, and action figures are available in six varieties.

Hasbro will release additional details about the Iron Man 3 line as the American International Toy Fair nears. The fair will begin on Sunday, February 11 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

Women In Toys Extends Application Deadline for Walmart Pitch Event

The application deadline for Women in Toys (WIT) and Walmart’s Women’s Global Economic Empowerment Initiative, has been extended to January 30. About 40 women-owned businesses have already signed up to participate in the Walmart Pitch event on February 11 during the American International Toy Fair, which allows WIT members to pitch their products to Walmart.
