Groovy Girls Turning 16 With New Core Dolls and Accessories

ManhattanToy.GroovyGirls.ComboSixteen years after the introduction of Groovy Girls, visitors to The Manhattan Toy Company‘s booth at the American International Toy Fair can be the first to see three new Groovy Girls Special Edition Sweet 16 Dolls: Skylar, Fuchsia, and Lilia. These limited edition dolls are each dressed in bright fashions and sport colored hair to match their names; for example, there’s sky blue hair for Skylar and raspberry pink locks for Fuchsia.

There will also be new B-Line “Core” Dolls consisting of four dolls that start with the letter “B”: Brooklyn, Bailey, Bayani, and Breanna. These poseable dolls arrive with distinctive outfits, hairstyles, and grins.

Other additions for next spring include Princess Ella, who has golden blonde hair topped by a jeweled tiara that makes her look taller than her 13 inches; the Royalty Ritzy Bed, which has a quilt with satin lining, tulle trim, and a satin pillow with tassels; and the Totally Tentastic tent with zippered mesh door, nylon flaps, and dimensions that fit up to three dolls. All products are suitable for kids ages 3 and up.

Spielwarenmesse’s TrendGallery Presents Four Trends for 2014

At Spielwarenmesse 2014 the new TrendGallery will debut upcoming trends and product novelties in Hall 3A. Product displays are given a platform next to presentations and guided tours. From Wednesday to Sunday during the Toy Fair, the trend experts Reyne Rice (U.S.) and Dr. Maria Costa (Spain) will detail the individual trend segments and introduce new products. Christian Blümelhuber, professor at the Berlin University of the Arts, will tackle the subject of future management; while toy specialist Reyne Rice will reveal the latest developments in the international toy market. Meanwhile, Andreas Haderlein will discuss what strategies tomorrow’s shops should adopt.

Kids India Premieres in Mumbai

An estimated 5,237 buyers and retailers attended the premiere of Kids India in Mumbai. The high number of trade visitors and positive response on the part of exhibitors surpassed all expectations of organizer Spielwarenmesse eG.

The new trade fair Kids India is a business platform for the growing Indian toy market. Exhibitors presented toys, baby articles, licensed products, sport articles, leisure, and hobby articles. Spielwarenmesse eG organized the new trade fair with the support of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC), in cooperation with the Sports Goods Export Promotion Council (SGEPC) and The All India Toy Manufacturers’ Association (TAITMA).

Chicago Toy & Game Group Unveils Keynote Speakers for Its 2013 Toy & Game Innovation Conference

T&GConThe seventh annual Toy & Game Innovation Conference (T&GCon), designed by Chicago Toy & Game Group, will feature three keynote speakers to headline the sessions on November 21 and 22. Adi Golad, founder of Goliath Games, Dan Klitsner, founder of KID Group, and Philip Sheppard, acclaimed film and event composer, will each address conference attendees with inspiration and motivation. Sheppard will present Thursday morning and Golad and Klitsner on Friday. The two-day event will cover informational topics, including prototype presentation, global trends, sales distribution, and the changing nature of the play-scape.

ASTRA Announces 2014 Marketplace & Academy Theme and Dates

ASTRA logoThe American Specialty Toy Retailing Association‘s (ASTRA) theme of its 2014 Marketplace & Academy is “Where play means business.” The event will take place in Phoenix from June 8 to 11.

“Our theme underscores that the specialty toy industry is serious about our business and serious about working together to maximize our success,” said Kathleen McHugh, president of ASTRA. “We are planning a fun and productive event that will help specialty toy and children’s products retailers have an extraordinary fourth quarter in 2014.”

With more than 1,400 members, ASTRA is the largest association for companies in the toy and children’s products arenas.
