Chicago Toy and Game Week to Feature PlayCHIC Fashion Show, Young Tech Challenge Presented by Spin Master

CHITAGGrouplogoThe PlayCHIC Fashion Show, part of Chicago Toy & Game Week, is moving to a new day and location this year at the Navy Pier Grand Ballroom on Nov. 18. This year, the runway will feature fashion designs inspired by toy brands of this holiday season and will transform into an after-party for the Toy and Game Innovation Award Gala (TAGIE). The PlayCHIC Fashion Show is themed “Fashion After Dark Is Always More Fun” and will include music by DJ Brent Rolland and live event streaming hosted by the Herbert Brothers. A portion of all ticket sales will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago.

Each year the PlayCHIC fashion show gives noted high-fashion designers the opportunity to combine their creativity and playfulness with top toy and game brands that will be featured at the Chicago Toy and Game Fair (ChiTAG) to create runway looks.

In addition, registration for the Chicago Toy & Game Group’s Young Tech Challenge is open now through Nov. 6. Contestant entrants for the Young Tech Challenge, presented by Spin Master, invites inventors ages 8 to 22 to bring together imagination, play, and tech to create a new tech product. Entrants will showcase their original ideas science fair style to a panel of play industry experts on Nov. 20 at the Chicago Toy & Game Fair.

Submissions for the Young Tech Challenge can be built on any platform and will be evaluated on originality, technical difficulty, presentation, and creativity. Judges will select a winner for three age groups: 8 to 13 years, 14 to 18 years, and 19 to 22 years. Winners will be announced at 4 p.m. on Nov. 20. In addition to cash prizes, the winner will receive prizes from Spin Master, including the Spy Gear Spy Go Action Camera, Meccano Meccasaur, Air Hogs Helix Sentinel Drone, Hatchimals, and Hedbanz Electronic.
