Crayola to Retire Iconic Crayon Color

crayolawhosleavingCrayola is retiring a color from its 24-box of crayons for the first time ever on National Crayon Day.

Although this isn’t the first time the company is retiring a shade, it is the first time in its 100-year history that it will retire a color from its iconic 24-count crayon box.

The secret is being kept under wraps until the announcement tomorrow morning in Times Square. Right now, the 24-count box has red, yellow, blue, brown, orange, green, violet, black, carnation pink, yellow orange, blue green, red violet, red orange, yellow green, blue violet, white, violet red, dandelion, cerulean, apricot, scarlet, green yellow, indigo, and gray. Crayola has not announced whether it will replace the color.

Consumers took to social media to express their opinions—some who are still recovering from Hasbro replacing three of their iconic tokens in the Monopoly game.
