eOne Adds Content, New Global Partners for Peppa Pig

PeppaPigEntertainment One (eOne) started production on a new series of Peppa Pig. The show’s animation studio, Astley Baker Davies, will produce the new series, bringing the total number of Peppa Pig episodes to 381.

New episodes from Series 7 continue to roll out on air to the end of 2018. The 117 new episodes currently in production will then launch on air globally from Spring 2019, to coincide with the brand’s 15th anniversary and will secure a pipeline of Peppa Pig content over the following four years.

Following the box office performance of Peppa Pig My First Cinema Experience in the UK last April, which has so far generated £3.4 million (about $4.43 million) to date, eOne reports that toy sales in the UK continue to grow in 2017, with a 12 percent rise in growth year to date. The property now boasts 87 licensees in the UK and master toy partner, Character Options, is readying the launch of its new hero product, Peppa’s Family Home, which hits shelves this July and will be supported with a dedicated TV advertising campaign.

Outside the UK, eOne welcomes new toy partner, DTC, in Brazil for a fresh line of toys that will debut at retail from August. In Russia, licensing has accelerated at a significant pace, and the licensing program now has 40 partners signed across toys, games, and confectionery. In China, Peppa Pig has generated more than 24.5 billion views on multiple SVOD platforms since the brand was first launched two years ago, providing strong consumer traction for the licensing and merchandising programme roll out of the brand this year.

Elsewhere, Peppa Pig merchandise recently entered new markets across the Nordics region where Character Options’ master toy line is being distributed by Top Toy and is currently enjoying strong retail sales. Further categories will follow this fall and winter ,including bedding, puzzles, and apparel.
