Top Ten Box | Cocktail Games/Toy Book

Top Ten is coming to the game aisle in the U.S.

North American game and entertainment company Exploding Kittens recently acquired the rights to France’s most popular party game, Top Ten from French publisher Cocktail Games. Exploding Kittens’ reimagined version of Top Ten will be released next year for English-speaking players.

“I’ve been watching how Top Ten has captivated players throughout Europe, and it’s pretty exciting to get the chance to adapt it for English-speaking players,” says Elan Lee, Co-Creator and CEO of Exploding Kittens. “We’ve built an incredible pipeline for developing and publishing new games and we see a lot of potential in Top Ten to become a new household favorite in the U.S. and other countries around the world.”

Top Ten took Europe by storm as the perfect party game to have a fun night in with friends. Players provide answers to silly questions and vote on the most knee-slapping responses. The twist: players are secretly told where they should end up in the ranking. The objective is to have their placement match up with the ranking made by the group.

Exploding Kittens broke into the casual gaming world when former Lee, a former Xbox designer, and The Oatmeal founder Matthew Inman released a game of the same namesake in 2015. After garnering over $8.7 M on Kickstarter (becoming the most successful campaign on the platform), Exploding Kittens went on to sell over 18 million copies along with 30 other game titles. Netflix is bringing Exploding Kittens to TV screens across the world with an animated show inspired by the game coming to the platform later this year.
