Moose Toys, Illumination, Universal Brand Development Partner for Despicable Me Collectibles Line

Moose Toys, Illumination, and Universal Brand Development partnered to launch Mineez, a new line of collectibles featuring characters from the Despicable Me universe. The range will debut this summer along with the release of Despicable Me 3. Mineez marks the first collectible line for the franchise.

Mineez will include characters from the new film, previous movies, and the franchise’s short-form content, as well as never-before-seen characters. The range features micro collectible figure packs, play sets, backpack hangers, novelty collectibles, and plush.

GBI Signs Mattel as Worldwide Master Toy Partner for Rainbow Rangers

Genius Brands International Inc. (GBI) signed Fisher-Price, a subsidiary of Mattel Inc., as global master toy partner for the company's original CGI-animated preschool series, Rainbow Rangers. As global master toy partner, Fisher-Price will create a broad range of preschool products in the toy category, including dolls and figures, play sets, plush, vehicles, technology and interactive toys, musical toys, role play, and more. The Alpha Group U.S. to Launch Regal Academy Toy Line

Rainbow Group’s Regal Academy will return to Nickelodeon, where it will continue to air new episodes from season one on Saturday mornings. Master toy partner The Alpha Group U.S. will release a full line of fashion dolls and play sets based on the series this fall. The line is designed for kids ages 5 and up and will debut at the North American International Toy Fair this month.

Regal Academy follows Rose, the granddaughter of Cinderella, as she enters the Regal Academy and embarks on magical adventures with her classmates, who also have a fairytale heritage and belong to the school’s founding families. The series debuted on Nickelodeon last summer.

Disguise, Mojang, and Microsoft Partner for Minecraft Costumes

Disguise Inc., the Halloween costume division of Jakks Pacific, secured a worldwide licensing agreement with Mojang and Microsoft to create children's Halloween costumes, accessories, and everyday dress up based on Minecraft. Minecraft is a sandbox video game where players dig (mine) and build (craft) 3-D blocks within a large world of varying terrains and habitats to explore.

Sakar Launches Line Based on The Lego Batman Movie

Sakar International launched a new line of mobile cases and accessories featuring Lego Batman. The line of The Lego Batman Movie cases will include the infamous Gotham superhero from the original DC Comics line. The Lego Batman Movie is set for release tomorrow, Feb. 10, by Warner Bros. Spielwarenmesse Sees Climb in Visitors, Exhibitors, and International Participation

The 68th Spielwarenmesse took place from Feb. 1 to 6 and posted high numbers of international exhibitors and visitors. The show had 2,871 companies exhibiting from 63 countries, up from 2,851 in 2016. A total of 73,000 visitors, up 3.2 percent from 70,714 last year, traveled to Nuremberg from 123 countries. Peru Meridian Studios returns to the North American International Toy Fair in New York City this year to host, "Industrious Information Center—Ask A Pro," booth at Hall 1C. Ask A Pro is an informational space for companies and individuals to find out new information about a variety of areas of development and business, featuring topics for new entrepreneurs and seasoned toy industry veterans alike. Pley Launches Disney-Themed Subscription Boxes

Pley partnered with Disney to launch mystery subscription boxes. The service sends families four to eight exclusive toys in a box. With zero-waste packaging, the box also transforms into a castle or boat. The introductory box is based on Beauty and the Beast and the upcoming Disney film.

Sesame Street Launches Spread Kindness, #ShareTheLaughter Global Campaign

Sesame Workshop will launch a global multimedia campaign called “Spread Kindness, #ShareTheLaughter,” aimed at teaching kids simple ways to be kind to those around them
This year, Sesame Street‘s 47th season on HBO and PBS Kids will feature kindness-themed episodes, in addition to classic videos and songs celebrating the theme on the show’s social media channels. Walmart Earns a Third of All Clicks in Toy Product Listing Category

An analysis from AdGooroo, a provider of search marketing intelligence, found that is the top product listing advertiser (PLA) in the toy keyword category on Google. The study measured the U.S. Google desktop product listing ad activity on 892 popular toy keywords from Dec. 25, 2016 to Jan. 26, 2017. Read more…

Gund Named Reader's Choice Winner in HOW Logo Design Awards

Gund’s recent rebranded logo was chosen as a Reader’s Choice winner in the eighth Annual HOW Logo Design Awards. The voting public chose Gund’s logo out of 20 award-winning designs from more than 1,200 total submissions. This prestigious competition sponsored by HOW magazine has been recognizing great logo design since 2008.
Gund’s rebranding project was conducted by NYC-based digital branding agency Cynda Media Lab.

Hasbro Appoints John Frascotti to President

Hasbro Inc. promoted John Frascotti to president, effective immediately. He will continue to report to Brian Goldner, who became chairman and CEO of the company.
In this role, Frascotti will continue to lead Hasbro’s product design and development, global marketing, digital gaming, entertainment, and consumer products initiatives.

Hasbro Reports First $5 Billion Revenue Year in 2016

Hasbro Inc. reported financial results for the full-year and fourth quarter 2016.  Net revenues for the full-year 2016 increased 13 percent to $5.02 billion versus $4.45 billion in 2015. Excluding a negative $61.0 million impact from foreign exchange, 2016 revenues increased 14 percent. Read more…

Jakks Retires $11.548 Million of Company's 2018 Convertible Senior Notes

Jakks Pacific Inc. agreed with a holder of its convertible senior notes due in 2018 to exchange $11.548 million face amount of such notes for 865,000 shares of its common stock and approximately $7.0 million in cash. After such exchange the balance of the face amount of the 2018 notes will have been reduced to approximately $54.7 million from approximately $66.3 million.
