Crayola Retires Iconic Crayon Color

The dandelion crayon is getting the boot from Crayola’s 24-box of crayons.

This is the first time Crayola is retiring a color from its iconic 24-box of crayons in the company’s 100 year history. Crayola made the announcement on Twitter this afternoon, citing the color’s adventurous spirit.

The company is celebrating National Crayon Day tomorrow, where it’s possible that it will also announce the replacement shade at an event in Times Square.

Moose Toys Launches Disney Crossy Road Merchandise

Moose Toys announced plans for its new toy line based on the mobile game Disney Crossy Road. In the game, players collect an 8-bit design of iconic Disney characters as they hop, dodge, and slide their way through busy lanes of traffic. Since its launch a year ago, the app has been downloaded more than 31 million times.
The initial collection from Moose will feature Disney and Pixar characters from the app including Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Buzz Lightyear, Simba, Baymax, and more. The line will include collectible micro figures, backpack hangers, and plush, and will be available at select retailers beginning April 1.

Fisher-Price Named Master Toy Partner for New Series Kingdom Force

Boat Rocker and Industrial Brothers named Fisher-Price master toy partner for the new original series Kingdom Force.
Kingdom Force was created by Industrial Brothers’ Matt Fernandes and will be co-produced by Industrial Brothers and Boat Rocker Studios. Boat Rocker will distribute the series internationally and manage the merchandising and licensing for the brand on all platforms, as well as leading the digital and brand initiatives.
Kingdom Force follows a team of fearless animals who fight disaster and protect their community with the help of their individual rescue vehicles that transform into a giant super robot.

TIA to Host Washington, DC Fly-In Tax Debate for Toy Companies

As momentum builds on tax reform, trade, and regulatory reduction, the Toy Industry Association (TIA) is urging its members to attend TIA’s 9th Washington, DC Fly-In, where toy companies can share their concerns with key lawmakers. With the debate on healthcare reform now on the back burner, congressional and Trump administration officials are turning their attention to tax reform, including the controversial Border Adjustment Tax. Teletubbies Celebrate 20th Anniversary

The Teletubbies celebrated their 20th anniversary this year with a 20 Years of Big Hugs event at Chelsea Piers in New York City, where the Teletubbies and Broadway Kids blew out candles on an anniversary cake.
Season 2 of the show is coming soon to Nick Jr, which is designed to appeal to tech-savvy toddlers. New features include the Tubby Phone smartphone and touch-screen tummies.

Odyssey Toys Launches ARIA's Adventures

Odyssey Toys is making an augmented reality educational game for kids, ARIA's Adventures. This augmented reality interactive application combines physical playing cards with the company’s own cell phone-compatible virtual reality headset to teach memory skills and facts about different animals and other early learning skills. Disney Store Celebrates 30 Years

Disney Store celebrates its 30th anniversary, officially marking the grand opening of the Glendale, Calif. store in 1987. Currently, Disney Store operates 340 stores worldwide and ecommerce sites in 10 countries.
In commemoration of this milestone, a new lineup of limited-edition 30th anniversary products will be released, featuring collectibles and a special anniversary Disney Tsum Tsum set. In-store celebratory events and activities are also planned, including a 30th Anniversary Parade, taking place every day at 3pm through April 2. Guests are invited to hear short, fun stories and facts about Disney Store’s history and kids are encouraged to dance along the store parade route.

Hasbro Studios Earns Daytime Emmy Award Nomination for Outstanding Original Song

Hasbro Studios earned a nomination for the 44th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards in the category for Outstanding Original Song.
The nominated song, "Legend of Everfree," hails from Hasbro Studios’ My Little Pony movie special, My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Legend of Everfree, the third installment of the brand’s spin-off series.
Daniel Ingram, the lyricist and composer behind "Legend of Everfree," also received a nomination last year in the same category for his original song featured in the sixth season of Discovery Family’s My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. In the past five years, Hasbro Studios’ produced TV series have won six awards and received 27 nominations.

Industry Veteran Loren Taylor Passes Away

Loren Taylor, 63, died on Monday, March 27 after a long and valiant fight against a rare form of cancer. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Lee Ann, and his children, Caley (23) and Colton (21). Read more…
