Zuru to Manufacture and Distribute Fidget Cube; Secures Worldwide License for Nimuno Loops

Spin Master Launches Hatchimals Colleggtibles

Spin Master Corp. launched Hatchimal Colleggtibles, the latest addition to its Hatchimals line.
 
Similar to its predecessors, Colleggtibles are tiny collectible animals that are contained in a small egg-like container, made out of patented material. The shell's bright, colorful speckles indicate which of the 13 families the Hatchimal inside belongs to, giving kids a tiny glimpse of who their new friend may be and letting them decide whether to keep or trade their Hatchimals Colleggtible even before hatching. PlayMonster Acquires Tinkineer and Its Marbleocity Line

PlayMonster acquired Marbleocity, a line of laser-cut STEM kits from Tinkineer. Each Marbleocity module can stand alone or fit together, so kids can experiment and combine all of their kits.
 
There are currently four different models in the Marbleocity line, with more on the way. All sets are made of laser-cut Baltic Birch and do not require batteries. The line includes the Mini Coaster, featuring more than 30 laser-cut wood parts for kids to build rides filled with dips and turns; the Dragon Coaster, where kids can use more than 80 pieces to construct their own version wooden roller coaster of the same name located at Playland in Rye, New York; the Mini Skate Park, which includes more than 30 pieces for kids to build a stair descent, rail slide, and a jump for their marbles; and the Skate Park, which comes with more than 80 pieces for kids to experiment with the physics of skateboarding with a half-pipe, stair descent, rail slide, and a jump.

Wicked Cool Toys Named Master Toy Licensee for Pokémon

The Pokémon Co. International appointed Wicked Cool Toys as master toy licensee for the Pokémon brand. Beginning July 2018, Wicked Cool Toys will have the rights to manufacture and market action figures, play sets, plush, role-play items, and other toys based on the animated series in worldwide markets, excluding regions in Asia where the brand is managed by The Pokémon Co. International’s parent organization, The Pokémon Co. Read more…

Zing Launches Spinzipz Stackable Spinners

Zing launched new Spinzipz spinners, the latest in the exploding fidget toy craze. Unlike ordinary fidget spinners, Spinzipz can be stacked on top of each other and also feature LED lights that activate when spun.
 
Spinzipz will be sold later this month in retailers such as Amazon, Target, Toys "R" Us, and Walmart. Zing previously released another iteration of fidget toys—Thumb Chucks—earlier this year.

TOMY, PlayFusion Introduce Lightseekers Trading Card Game

PlayFusion and TOMY are introducing the Lightseekers Trading Card Game, augmented reality trading cards that are playable as a physical, standalone game. The trading cards can be used to enhance gameplay within the Lightseekers mobile game, and is available to download in the U.S., the UK, and Canada in the Apple App Store, Google Play, and Amazon App Store. Slither.io Adds Just Toys International, Fifth Sun to Its Roster of Licensees

The Slither.io mobile game app added Just Toys International and Fifth Sun to its growing roster of licensees. Lisa Berlin Wright of Tie In Pro brokered both deals and will showcase the property at the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas this month.
 
Just Toys International will feature mini posters, stickers, and fun packs sold as blind bag collectibles. Fifth Sun will manufacture and distribute slither.io apparel, including T-shirts, hoodies, and active wear. Additional partners include Everything Legwear for socks and Bonkers Toys for plush, blind bag vinyl, and plastic toys.

Moose Toys Inks New Licensing Deals for Shopkins

Moose Toys is growing its licensing partnerships for Shopkins. The brand now has more than 210 licensees and 18 agents globally focusing on gaming, content, licensing, and toys.
 
Highlights from 2016 include Shopkins licensed product sales more than $1 billion and Shopkins finishing as the No. 1 girls brand in nine categories in the U.S. including apparel (basics and sleep), bedding, party, kids’ stationery, accessories, seasonal, and home. Read more…

Lego Dimensions Launches Wave 8 Expansion Packs

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment released the latest expansion packs for Lego Dimensions. Players can now add new levels and vehicles based on The Goonies and Harry Potter to their virtual Lego experience.
 
Lego minifigures included in the expansion packs come with golden Toy Tags, which unlock a Battle Arena within the Free Play Adventure World. Each Battle Arena has four different gameplay modes and comes with its own traps, special powers, and interactive environments that make every battle arena unique. Read more…

Nelvana Names ChizComm as Agency of Record

ChizComm Ltd. was named Agency of Record for Nelvana, including Nelvana Enterprises, the global licensing and merchandising branch of Nelvana.
 
Nelvana will build on ChizComm’s roster of clients, including tech, food, lifestyle, toys, and kids’ entertainment categories. ChizComm will work with Nelvana on its international consumer and trade public relations and marketing efforts.

Fans to Name Crayola's Newest Color

Crayola introduced a new blue crayon color inspired by the discovery of a new blue pigment. YInMn Blue, the vibrant pigment discovered in 2009 by chemist Mas Subramanian and his team at Oregon State University, is the inspiration behind the color. Read more…

Fidget Spinner Association Condemns Fidget Spinner Ban in Schools

The Fidget Spinner Association (FSA), an international advocacy organization supporting fidget spinners and the fidget spinner community, has condemned a ban of fidget spinners by schools in the U.S. FSA vowed to fight these bans locally and nationally with all its resources.
 
During the past month, dozens of schools in the U.S., both public and private, have officially or unofficially banned the use of fidget spinners in class or on school grounds. In many cases, fidget spinners have been confiscated by teachers and other school officials.
 
FSA said that it would contact local, state and federal elected officials in affected districts to assert its position. The organization also may engage President Trump through Twitter, seeking a tweet of support for those impacted by the bans.

WIT Introduces New Board and Advisory Members

Women in Toys, Licensing & Entertainment (WIT) added two new members to its board of directors. Gena Lavallee, senior buyer at Toys "R "Us, and Brandi Pinsker, founder and CEO of Project Genius, were recently appointed to the board. Maura Regan, executive vice president at LIMA Licensing, was also appointed to WIT's advisory board.
 
WIT also welcomed chairs in its Puerto Rico and France divisions. Tree House Kids vice president Johanna López-Falero was appointed to Puerto Rico, while 123 Conseil Director Christine Pagini and Bandai Country Manager Mathilde Dezalys were appointed in France.

Stanley Weston Passes Away

Stanley Weston, the inventor of the G.I. Joe action figure, died on May 1 in Los Angeles at the age of 84.
 
Weston was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on April 1, 1933. He attended Jamaica High School in Queens and New York University before entering the army shortly after the end of the Korean War. Read more…

Roblox Names Grace Francisco as VP of Developer Relations

Gaming social platform Roblox hired Grace Francisco as its new vice president of developer relations.
 
Francisco will oversee Roblox's creative community of 1.7 million developers. She will be responsible for leading development and educational programs across multiple platforms and advising creators throughout various stages of the development process.
 
This new hire follows Roblox's $92 million fundraising round and the appointment of Remy Malan as vice president of customers, managing customer service and content moderation.
