Hasbro Introduces Toys Based on Angry Birds Go!
Hasbro Inc. has introduced the Angry Birds Go! Telepods and Jenga product lines, launching in support of Rovio Entertainment’s Angry Birds Go! mobile game. The Telepods platform allows players to teleport their physical Angry Birds Go! karts into the digital game using their mobile devices.
Hasbro’s Angry Birds Go! Jenga gaming line offers face-to-face play based on the mobile game. Kids can take on the pigs with kart racing, bird launching, and Jenga block toppling. Both product lines are available at major retail locations beginning on October 1, with the mobile game release to follow.

Reeves International Inc. Announces Partnership with Wow Toys

Reeves International Inc. has partnered with Wow Toys to become the exclusive distributor of the toymaker’s line throughout the U.S. The brand features multi-piece play sets with “hero” vehicle characters such as Ernie Fire Engine, Dudley Dump Truck, and Pippa Princess Carriage, with motorized mechanisms and functions that are battery-free.
Carried in more than 50 countries, Wow Toys’ designs use child-safe paint, contain no small part, no PVC, and are cadmium-, phthalate-, and PAH-free.

Safari Ltd. Introduces More than 70 Educational Toys

Safari Ltd.Safari Ltd., a manufacturer and worldwide distributor of museum-quality, educational toys, is expanding its collections with more than 70 new hand-painted products for next year. New additions include mythical creatures, wildlife, sea life, and dinosaurs, including the Carnegie Tyrannosaurus Rex, authenticated by Carnegie Museum of Natural History paleontologists.
Select Safari Ltd. products in the Incredible Creatures collection are also now suitable for ages 18 months and up, breaking Safari Ltd. into the baby market for the first time in company history.

K’NEX Brands Grants Learning Resources Limited Distribution Rights in China and Hong Kong

K'NEXK’NEX Brands has signed an agreement with Learning Resources Limited of Hong Kong to distribute its K’NEX Education line and select retail products in the People’s Republic of China and Hong Kong.
Learning Resources Limited has been named the authorized reseller of K’NEX Education products in the PRC. It also has the non-exclusive rights to sell popular K’NEX retail sets, including the 6 Foot Ferris Wheel, 6 Foot Double Ferris Wheel, Grandfather Clock, and the Son of Serpent Coaster. The agreement between K’NEX and Learning Resources runs through next year.




TING Cocktail Party Planned for Fall Toy Preview

TINGToy Industry Next Generation (TING) will host a networking cocktail party in Dallas on October 1. It will coincide with the opening day of Fall Toy Preview.
TING offers professional development and networking events, opportunities to participate in charitable organizations, educational seminars, and more for young professionals working in the toy industry. The TING officers include toy professionals from Hog Wild Toys, Child’s Play Communications, Nowstalgic Toys Inc., and Diverse Marketing. TING is a special interest group that has been enthusiastically endorsed by the Toy Industry Association (TIA).
The TING cocktail party will take place from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hilton Anatole Gossip Bar in the Dallas Market Center. It is free for TIA members and $25 for non-members. Event registration may be completed online.

Hasbro, Linkin Park Release Special Edition Transformers Action Figure

SoundwaveIn celebration of Transformers’ 30th anniversary, Hasbro Inc. and rock band Linkin Park collaborated to create a special edition Linkin Park Soundwave Transformers action figure. It marks the first celebrity-designed Transformers figure in the brand’s history.
The special Soundwave Transformer features a gold deco treatment and is packaged in a unique cassette tape-inspired box. The band, which has provided songs for three Transformers movies, chose this particular Transformer in part for its retro-appeal. SURU will be the exclusive retailer of the Linkin Park Soundwave Transformer at the SURU store in Los Angeles, Calif., and online <> through October 3.


Gund Signs with Parham Santana to Develop Licensing Program

GundParham Santana has signed an agreement with Gund under its licensing division, BrandSlam. Parham Santana will assist Gund in developing a licensing strategy for brand extensions, which will allow consumers to engage with Gund across new product categories. Licensed products will be designed for sale at better stores where Gund products are currently available.




Bipartisan Congressional Toy Caucus Launched on Capitol Hill

A bipartisan Congressional Toy Caucus was formed and launched on Capitol Hill at Toy Industry Association's 6th Annual Washington, D.C., Fly-In last week. Co-chaired by Congressman Ron Kind and Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn, the Toy Caucus was created to engage lawmakers in a constructive dialogue about issues currently facing the U.S. toy industry and the important role that toy businesses have in education. Members of Congress who have toy companies in their districts and/or have an interest in the toy industry were invited to participate.

SimCity Cities of Tomorrow Expansion Pack Coming in November

SimCityElectronic Arts’ SimCity Cities of Tomorrow expansion pack for Mac and PC will arrive on November 12. The expansion pack lets players transform their cities using new technologies and experimental urban planning techniques.
Players will have the option to create a utopian society underpinned by clean technology, or to encourage a giant corporation to strip-mine natural resources and pollute. Education and research are also factors in the game, and players can discover new technologies that make their cities less polluted, managed by service drones, and more. And whenever players are finished deciding whether they want their Sims living in harmony, they can unleash all-new disasters exclusive to the expansion pack.

Zuru to Release Creepeez Wall Crawlers Toy Line with Marvel Super Heroes

Toymaker Zuru is creating Creepeez wall crawlers featuring characters from both Marvel’s Spider-Man and The Avengers. The official Marvel Creepeez will premiere this month at Toys “R” Us and Dollar General stores nationwide. The line will feature fan favorites including The Hulk, Iron Man, and Captain America, all with creepy, sticky feet, and the ability to tumble down walls while performing stunts or racing against each other.

World Maker Faire Is Where D-I-Y Meets T-O-Y-S!

This past weekend, under terrific late-summer weather, the New York Hall of Science in Flushing Meadows, N.Y., was the site of this year’s World Maker Faire. The massive, two-day-long science fair/state fair drew large crowds of hobbyists, educators, tech enthusiasts, and more. Grand Theft Auto V Crosses $1 Billion in Sales in First Three Days

Grand Theft Auto V, the latest release from the popular video game series, has achieved worldwide retail sales of more than $1 billion during its first three days on sale, according to estimates by publisher Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. This is reported to be the fastest that any entertainment property, including video games and feature films, has reached that milestone.
Rockstar North developed Grand Theft Auto V, which received critical acclaim upon release. The game was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on September 17.

Gameloft Joins the SBF 120 Index

Gameloft has joined the SBF 120 Index, in accordance with the decision made by the NYSE Euronext Paris Expert Indices Committee. The decision took effect on September 23.
This year marked the international success of Despicable Me: Minion Rush, the first Gameloft title to reach more than 100 million downloads. Gameloft currently employs more than 6,000 people around the world.
