K’NEX Introduces Mighty Makers Building Sets, Designed to Encourage and Empower Girls

KNEX Mighty Makers logoK’NEX Brands has introduced Mighty Makers, a line of construction toys designed to empower girls through creative and stimulating building ideas. Created by an all-female marketing and design team, the Mighty Makers building set line encourages girls ages 7 and up.

Each science-, technology-, engineering-, and math-based (STEM) set features colorful rods, connectors, panels, and story-based instructions that follow the life of the included female figure. The following Mighty Makers building sets are available exclusively at Toys “R” Us, and will be available at toy stores nationwide beginning August 1:

Mighty Makers: Up, Up and Away Building Set:

Kids can build a flying contraption for the Ava figure. The set includes 140 colorful K’NEX parts and pieces, including a cockpit seat, star snaps, and Ava’s goggles. It also comes with full color instructions for four different aviation-themed builds, as well as an exploration card that challenges builders to investigate additional themed concepts.

Mighty Makers: Going Green Building Set

Using the included tools, builders can help Zoe build a garden, a greenhouse, or a flower box. The set features 127 K’NEX parts and pieces, Zoe and Roland figures, gardening tools, flowers, foliage, and more. It also includes full color instructions for three different botany themed builds, and an exploration card that challenges builders to explore additional botany concepts.

Mighty Makers: Fun on the Ferris Wheel Building Set

Kids can help Emily build her own amusement park with a Ferris wheel, Pirate Ship ride, and boardwalk game. The set includes 324 K’NEX parts and pieces, Emily and Cocoa figures, Ferris wheel seats, star snaps, and more. It also features full color building instructions with ideas for three different mechanical engineering themed builds, and an exploration card that challenges builders to explore additional mechanical engineering concepts.

Mighty Makers: Deep Sea Dive Building Set

Builders can explore the deep depths of the ocean with Marissa on her marine boat, or win first prize at the school science fair while learning about the food chain. Builders can also transform Marissa into a beautiful mermaid who can swim among the fish and ocean vegetation. This exciting building set includes 317 K’NEX parts and pieces, Marissa and Queen figures, and accessories such as a microscope, a laptop, and a jellyfish. The set includes full color building instructions for three different oceanographic themed builds, and an exploration card that challenges builders to explore additional marine biology concepts.

Mighty Makers: Home Designer Building Set

The set invites builders to follow blue prints, and to join Brianna and Sophia as they build different houses—a Colonial, a brownstone, or a cottage—using the included flowers, flowerpots, seats, tables, lamps, and more to decorate the houses. The set includes 433 K’NEX parts and pieces, Brianna and Sophia figures, and accessories. It also comes with full color instructions for four different architecture themed builds, and an exploration card that challenges builders to explore additional concepts.

Mighty Makers: Inventor’s Clubhouse Building Set

Using the 528 included pieces, builders can help Emily and Aubrey build a flapping bird or an animation machine, or take a ride on the clubhouse zip line. The Inventors Clubhouse Building Set features full color instructions for 10 different engineering themed builds, and an exploration card that challenges builders to explore additional concepts.
