Lego Builds Tenth Consecutive Year of U.S. Toy Market Growth

Lego LogoLego Systems Inc. achieved U.S. consumer sales growth for the tenth consecutive year in 2014. The company increased its overall U.S. toy market share to end 2014 in its strongest position ever in U.S. toys.

According to data from The NPD Group, Lego U.S. consumer sales grew 14 percent in 2014 over the previous year. In addition, its share of the total U.S. toy market increased by almost a full point to 8.5 percent; its sales in the ages 4 and up segment of U.S. Building Sets increased by 16 percent; its sales in the Junior segment of U.S. Building Sets grew by 5 percent; and the company experienced continued double-digit growth in U.S. Girls Building Sets, up 28 percent in 2014 over the previous year.

The year-over-year growth in U.S. Girls Building Sets was driven by Lego Friends and Lego Disney Princess, while the Lego Duplo collection drove growth in the Junior segment.
