Lionel is giving fans a chance to design a new boxcar in celebration of the company’s 115th anniversary. The winning boxcar design in the Design Your Own Boxcar contest will be produced and featured in Lionel’s Fall 2015 Signature Edition catalog.
To enter, fans can visit the Lionel website to download a boxcar template through June 1. Once the boxcar is decorated, designs can be submitted via email, post mail, or Lionel.com. After all the entries are received, a panel of judges will select 16 finalists. The boxcar design of the finalists will be posted on Lionel’s Facebook page and on their website, letting fans vote for their favorite design from June 15 through 30.
One winner and two honorable mentions will be publicly announced on July 17. The winner will receive the first sample of his or her designed boxcar off the line, inclusion of the design as a for-sale item in Lionel’s Fall 2015 Signature Edition catalog, framed photos of the design process and a letter from Lionel’s president, and a $250 online promotion code. The first honorable mention will have his or her boxcar design included in the signature edition catalog, and will receive a $100 online promotion code for use. The second honorable mention will have his or her boxcar design for sale in the signature edition catalog and receive a $50 online promotion code.
