Scooby-Doo and Shaggy

The reimagined Scooby-Doo! live tour announced this spring is getting ready for its big debut.

Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Monlove revealed the first leg of tour dates for Scooby-Doo! and the Lost City of Gold, an original live-stage spectacular premiering in March. The all-new production will bring Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. gang to cities across North America in an adventure brought to life using cutting-edge theatrical technology, original music, puppetry, magic, song, dance, interactive video, aerial arts, acrobatics, and video mapping.

Scooby-Doo is a 6-foot, 4-inch animatronic and puppeteer-operated Great Dane who was created by a dozen designers over the course of more than 1,600 hours. Legendary voice actor Frank Welker (Transformers‘ Megatron) will provide Scooby-Doo’s voice, just as he’s done on screen since 2002. Welker has provided the animated voice of Mystery Inc.’s Fred Rogers since the debut of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! in 1969.

In Scooby-Doo! and the Lost City of Gold, Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, Daphne, Fred, and Velma travel to the fictitious South American town Alta Luz, where ghostly sightings of La Dama de Oro (the Lady in Gold) threaten to scare attendees away from the annual music festival and Incan sun god celebration. In their trusty Mystery Machine, the gang follows a trail of extinct purple irises through a labyrinth of mystery with characters including Miguel the groundskeeper, Luis the llama, botanist Professor Falcone, the Pachacuties, and Ayar Manco (the 13th-century founder of the Incan civilization).

The original concept, book, music, and lyrics were created by Ella Louise Allaire and Martin Lord Ferguson (Ice Age Live! A Mammoth Adventure), with direction by Pierre Boileau (Queen Elizabeth’s JubileeThe Nut Job Live & Friends, Cirque Eloize), and technical design innovations and sets from Guy-St-Amour (Cirque du Soleil’s MystèreViva ElvisMichael Jackson). Costume design is being overseen by Edda Gudmundsdottir (Bjork, Bebe Rexha, and Imagine Dragons).
