New LeapTV, from LeapFrog, Offers an Educational and Active Video Game Experience

LeapTVLeapTV, from LeapFrog Enterprises Inc. for children ages 3 to 8, is now available online and at major retail locations across the U.S. The new video game console system combines activity and movement with a best-in-class educational curriculum.

LeapTV features simple and intuitive user interfaces created with younger children in mind, and provides three ways to play: motion control, pointer play, and classic controller mode. The system’s camera puts children right into the game, and lets them see themselves dance, play sports, and more while experiencing curricular challenges along the way. LeapTV also includes a transforming gaming controller specifically designed for children’s small hands and limited dexterity.

The LeapTV system includes console, motion-sensing camera, camera mount, transforming controller with wrist strap, HDMI cable, 16GB of memory, and built-in Wi-Fi for downloading apps. It also provides access to LeapFrog’s Learning Library of more than 100 game cartridges, game downloads, and videos designed or approved by LeapFrog’s team of gaming and learning experts.

LeapTV’s first eight game cartridge titles feature kid-favorite characters, as well as the very popular Tad, Leap, and Lily from LeapFrog’s top-selling Letter Factory Adventures animated video series. The new titles include:

  • LeapFrog Sports: Kids ages 4 to 7 can learn with nine sports games powered by active play. The games include knocking subtraction skills out of the park, karate-chopping shapes, and blocking goals with number-line power.
  • LeapFrog Kart Racing: Suitable for kids ages 5 to 8, LeapFrog Kart Racing offers five tournaments driven by active play. Kids can choose from eight karts and tune up pre-race using addition, subtraction, multiplication and early algebra.
  • LeapFrog Dance & Learn: Kids ages 4 to 7 can dance, sing, and move to the music in nine games that teach early reading skills. They can be the star of their own dance party as they appear on TV to drum out rhymes, slap together compound words, flutter like feathers, and dance like dinosaurs.
  • Disney Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Kids ages 3 to 5 can set sail for a pirate adventure with Jake, Cubby, and Izzy! They can twist and turn to navigate the sea, fly high to grab gold doubloons, and use swashbuckling mathematics skills to find the treasure.
  • Pixar Pals Plus: Kids ages 4 to 7 activate science and reasoning skills in six mini-games, unlocking pieces to six challenging puzzles. The mini-games include teaming up with Buzz and Woody to toy with simple machines, and diving into ocean science with Dory and Nemo.
  • Disney Sofia the First: Sofia’s Picnic Games: Kids ages 3 to 5 join Sofia the First and train for the Tri-Kingdom games, sledding downhill, growing reading skills in Sofia’s garden, and more along the way.
  • Marvel Ultimate Spider-Man: As Spider-Man, kids ages 4 to 7 run, jump, wall crawl, sling webs, and unleash reading skills in 36 exciting stages of active and educational play.
  • Bubble Guppies Fin-tastic Field Trips!: Kids ages 3 to 5 dive into three different field trips with Gil and Molly. The activities include exploring transportation in Big Bubble City, digging up dinosaur fossils, and diving into learning about people and places, recycling, fossils, and more.

Additional educator-approved games, videos, and apps for the LeapTV Learning Library will be available for download via the App Center for LeapTV in December.
