Nintendo Announces New Game Console, Third Quarter Decline

Nintendo will launch a new version of the portable Nintendo DS, dubbed Nintendo DSi LL, which will hit retail shelves in Japan on November 21. Nintendo DSi LL will feature a 4.2-inch screen, which is approximately 93 percent larger than the Nintendo DS Lite, and will carry a price tag of $222.

Weiging in at 314 grams, the console will have a battery life of four to five hours on the highest brightness, and will be available in dark brown, red wine, and natural white. The DSi LL will release in Europe next year. There has been no announcement yet about a U.S. release date.

Nintendo recently announced its third quarter results, reporting than the company’s profits declined 52 percent compared to the same quarter in 2008. The company has cut its annual profit forecast by 23 percent.
