Report of 66th Spielwarenmesse Shows Increase in Exhibitors, Visiting Countries, and More

SpielwarenmesseegSpielwarenmesse eG has released a report summarizing the results of the 66th Spielwarenmesse in Nuremberg. The total number of exhibitors was 2,857, up from 2,748 during the prior year. International exhibitors totaled 2,051 and represented 67 countries, up from 1,951 exhibitors and 61 countries during the previous year. The top five countries based on number of international exhibitors were China, Great Britain, Hong Kong, the U.S., and France.

The number of international visitors was 70,084 compared to 75,888 during the previous year, while the number of countries represented reached 126, up from 122 during the prior year. The total international share of visitors was 58 percent, compared to 56 percent during the previous year. The top five countries based on number of international visitors were Italy, France, Spain, the Netherlands, and Great Britain.

This year, 81 percent of attendees stated they were satisfied with their participation, compared to 81.1 percent during the previous year, while 90 percent of the exhibitors plan to participate again next year, compared to 90.8 percent during the prior year. The report also found that 32.9 percent of exhibitors only attend Spielwarenmesse, compared to 31.3 percent during the previous year.

A poll of visitors at the fair found that the majority, or 34.8 percent, represented the retail and toy trade, while 17.2 percent represented the wholesale and foreign trade, and 11.3 percent represented the services, freelance, and institutions sector.

Spielwarenmesse 2016 will be held from January 27 to February 1.
