Schleich hired its first Chief Storytelling Officer! | Source: Schleich

Bosses are getting younger these days!

Schleich announced its newest team member, eight-year-old Marcello from Queens, NY! Marcello will fill the role of the company’s very first Chief Storytelling Officer (CSO) after the brand conducted a live casting call at FAO Schwarz in New York City. Kids from all across the U.S. were invited to send in videos with their best stories. Although nearly 150 applications were considered, Marcello’s story won him the coveted job.

Upon hearing the news, Marcello shouted “I can’t believe I’m the new Chief Storytelling Officer!” You can watch the moment he was offered the position below.

The sentiment was not lost on Schleich, either. “We knew that we would only be able to create the best stories for our brand if we had the help of our true storytelling superheroes — kids,” says Kelli Masilun, director of North American marketing for Schleich USA. “When we met Marcello, we knew instantly that we had found a creative and energetic voice that could help inspire our brand in addition to the kids and grown ups who love to tell stories with Schleich characters and sets.

As CSO, Marcello’s first duty will be to inspire kids and adults to use the power of storytelling to have a better holiday season. Schleich will release a series of holiday-themed videos starring Marcello, where viewers will learn how storytelling and imagination can help kids play today to change the world tomorrow. Videos will include an imaginative motivational speech and a Zoom session with Schleich characters! The holiday fun starts Nov. 8th on Schleich’s YouTube channel.
