Spielwarenmesse kicked off on Jan. 31 with its ToyAwards ceremony, awarding the accolade to innovative products in four age-specific categories.

For this year’s ToyAward, 397 companies submitted 643 products to be considered for the awards, an increase from last year. The expert panel judged all submissions based on the criteria of gaming fun, originality, finish and quality, safety, comprehensibility of product concept, and potential success in the retail trade.

The winners are: Kullerbü – Car Park-Play Track from Habermaass in the Baby & Infant category; Silverlit Toys Manufactory in the Preschool category for Robo Chameleon; Pepper Mint and the Treehouse Adventure experimentation set by Franckh-Kosmos Verlag in the School Kids category; and the VW T1 Samba by TAMIYA-CARSON Modellbau in the Teenager & Adults category.

This year’s ToyAward winners are on display in a designated area in the TrendGallery in Hall 3A.
