American Greetings Properties (AGP), the intellectual property and outbound licensing division of American Greetings Corporation, has entered into a global collaboration with Build-A-Bear Workshop that will feature the Care Bears brand at Build-A-Bear Workshops. This limited-time worldwide promotion will begin next year.
American Greetings Properties (AGP), the intellectual property and outbound licensing division of American Greetings Corporation, is revamping its licensing, entertainment, digital, and distribution teams, starting with the hire of former longtime Zodiak Kids executive Karen Vermeulen. Vermeulen joins AGP as its new head of global sales and co-productions, and will initially be based out of London.
Madballs, the bouncing balls from the 1980s with grotesque faces, protruding eyeballs, and zany names, are back in a new line from Funrise Toys. AG Properties, the intellectual property and outbound licensing division of American Greetings Corporation, announced the news.
The Funrise Madballs line will include plush and feature plush sports balls and soft accessories, including baseball bats and basketball hoops based on the brand’s satirical and gutter humor. Products are scheduled to hit retail in the fall of next year.
“We are thrilled to partner with Funrise on this new line for Madballs,” said Lindsay Martinez, vice president of licensing and business development for AG Properties. “The addition of this plush sports ball program gives the franchise a unique position in the toy aisle and allows for a new generation of kids to experience the Madballs brand.”
Funrise’s plush toys will extend the property’s consumer products program, which includes comics with Lion Forge. Madballs were first introduced by AmToy, a subsidiary of American Greetings, in 1986.
Strawberry Shortcake continues to flourish in Europe as American Greetings Properties (AGP), the intellectual property and outbound licensing division of American Greetings Corporation, announces several new licensing deals for the brand in Italy. The new deals, which include novelty books, candy, and arts and crafts products, were secured by AG Properties’ international licensing agent Copyright Promotions Licensing Group (CPLG).
Edizioni Play Press will introduce magic albums, activity books, and coloring books at mass retailers this spring, while RCS Libri SPA is planning a line of novelty, picture, story, and activity books for sale at specialty stores. In addition, Multiprint has secured the Strawberry Shortcake license for an assortment of stationery and arts and crafts items under the brand Uva Fragola. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) entered into an agreement with Commonwealth Toy & Novelty Co. Inc. to develop a line of plush toys and accessories. The line will aim to replicate the experience of adopting a shelter pet, bringing the ASPCA’s mission to a new generation of animal advocates. The line is set to launch by the end of the year.
Commonwealth Toy & Novelty Co. Inc. joins a robust roster of ASPCA licensees including Firestar Diamond Inc., American Greetings Corporation, Eyewear Inventions LLC, European Home Design Inc., and Williams-Sonoma Inc.’s PBTeen and West Elm brands.
