Nickelodeon to Debut Kid’s Choice Sports 2014 Awards

March17.KidsChoiceNickelodeon will debut its newest live award show, Kids’ Choice Sports 2014, hosted by Michael Strahan this July. The show will take place at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles and will honor athletes, teams, and sports moments from the year. The event will also feature a slime-filled sports stunt performed by a star athlete and a halftime live musical performance.

There will also be a Kids’ Choice Sports council consisting of athletes and other influencers in the sporting world. They will provide information during the awards show, give feedback on categories, and consult on the nominee process. Members of the council include Michael Phelps, Misty May-Treanor, and Baron Davis.

WIT Accepts Nominations for 2014 Wonder Women Awards

WITAwardsWomen in Toys (WIT) is accepting nominations for the 10th Annual Wonder Women in Toys, Licensing, and Entertainment Awards. Winners will be announced at an awards dinner scheduled for February 17 during Toy Fair Week. The awards program recognizes and celebrates leaders, innovators, and other powerful women who have made lasting contributions to the toy and entertainment industries.

Industry stakeholders are invited to nominate a co-worker, client, associate, family member, or acquaintance for consideration in one or more of the following categories: designer/inventor, licensing and entertainment, manufacturer, rising star, marketing PR, and retailer. Nominations may be submitted online, and tickets are currently available for purchase at the WIT site.

The awards dinner will take place at Pier Sixty and The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in New York City.

Smart Toys and Games’ Bunny Peek A Boo Wins Four Awards

bunnySmart Toys and Games Inc. has earned four awards from multiple toy and parenting awards programs for its game Bunny Peek A Boo. Recent awards include ASTRA Best Toys for Kids, Dr. Toy’s Best Green Toys, Parents’ Choice Awards, and the Tillywig Toy & Media Awards.

Bunny Peek A Boo’s wooden blocks and character rabbit allow children to develop spatial perception, logic, and problem solving skills as they “pull a rabbit out of the box” with this 3-D puzzle. The game offers 60 challenges designed to prepare children ages 2 to 5 for more difficult single player logic games. The game’s ability to be engaging, open-ended, fun, and safe were factors that influenced the judging. Bunny Peek A Boo is available at toy stores everywhere and on Smart’s website.

CMOM Honors Learning Resources with Corporate Leadership Award

The Children’s Museum of Manhattan (CMOM) has selected Learning Resources, Inc. as the first recipient of the Corporate Leadership Award. Learning Resources, an Illinois-based company, is a leading manufacturer of innovative, hands-on educational toys engage children and support individual learning style. Since its inception in 1984, the company has dedicated itself to designing products that enable both parents and teachers to go beyond traditional instruction.
