Genius Brands Names Stone Newman President, Global Consumer Products

StoneNewmanGenius Brands International Inc. (GBI) has appointed Stone Newman to the newly created post of president, Global Consumer Products. In this new role, Newman will work with retailers and licensees to build comprehensive consumer products programs for each of the company’s brands, including Baby Genius, Secret Millionaires Club, Stan Lee’s Mighty 7, and others. He will also appoint and oversee a team of licensing agencies from around the world to operate as sub agents.

Newman will continue to manage licensing programs represented by his former company, Art + Science International, including WowWee brands, ElectroKidz, MiP, and Archie Comics.  These brands will now be managed under GBI’s wholly owned subsidiary, A Squared Entertainment LLC.

Genius Partners with Pacific Digital to Launch Baby Genius Streaming Service

geniusGenius Brands International Inc., developer and marketer of entertainment products including the Baby Genius line of music and edutainment products and characters, has formed a strategic partnership with Pacific Media Technologies’ Pacific Digital Distribution (PDD) division to bring the entire catalog of Baby Genius video, music, and digital content to a global audience.

PDD, a digital video services company dedicated to the distribution of content to broadcast, cable, Internet, and mobile video platforms, will connect consumers to Baby Genius content through its proprietary Cloud Video On Demand WAVE platform. WAVE is an enabled content management system that includes an e-commerce model for online payment gateways and manages digital distribution to any end-points including all mobile and connected devices, and content models including VOD and subscription rentals.

The new Baby Genius streaming service will be available to consumers beginning in October at a monthly subscription rate for immediate access to 125 Baby Genius videos and 500 Baby Genius songs. Additional digital content including Baby Genius ebooks and Baby Genius apps will be added to the service next year.

Baby Genius Mobile App Series to Open New Windows of Learning for Children Around the Globe this Summer

Genius Brands International, Inc., announced that, in partnership with Nokia Corporation, it will bring exclusive mobile apps that run on Microsoft Corp.’s Windows Phone platform to the Nokia Lumia range of devices, including the Lumia 900 on AT&T.  The Ready, Play, Learn line is being developed to offer learning opportunities by bringing education to mobile technology. It creates a new way to help prepare children for the preschool-to-kindergarten transition by empowering parents with state-of-the-art tools to help them. Genius Brands’ Sing ‘n Play Pals are the first apps in the Ready, Play, Learn kindergarten readiness program using music to educate and entertain the youngest app users.

The first two apps in the Sing ‘n Play Pals series are in development and are scheduled for launch this summer. The try and buy Baby Genius apps will feature free and premium content available at the option of the parent unlocking additional content. The next apps in the Ready, Play, Learn line of educational apps are scheduled for launch in the 4th quarter.

Rexi the Dinosaur and Bubbles the Bear will be the first Baby Genius characters to star in the Sing n’ Play Pals  line of apps designed to bring the Baby Genius characters to life, with entertaining animated movements that let children interact with the characters, learn, and play games. Children will be able to interact and talk to Rexi or Bubbles, and the Baby Genius characters will repeat anything they hear said. Kids will be able to make them giggle, wiggle, play an instrument, kick a soccer ball, and eat a sandwich.  Users will be able to video record their experiences and send the videos to friends via email, or share the videos on social networking sites such as YouTube and Facebook.

Baby Genius Offers Apps

Baby Genius recently launched two apps featuring characters Frankie and Tempo. Parents can download MyPal Frankie and MyPal Tempo for iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad for free. The MyPal Tempo musical game is a “Simon Says”-style game that teaches memory skills through music. With MyPal Frankie, Frankie will repeat anything the child says. Kids can play with Frankie and make her giggle, wiggle, or eat an apple. Videos can be recorded and saved or shared.

Winfat to Manufacture Baby Genius ELAs

Pacific Entertainment Corporation is partnering with Winfat Industrial Co., Ltd. in a new licensing deal that will grant Winfat the rights to manufacture electronic learning aids (ELAs) for Pacific Entertainment’s Baby Genius brand. The ELAs will include bilingual preschool laptop computers and learning boards for distribution to mass-market and mid-tier retailers, ecommerce, specialty toy stores, and book stores throughout the U.S.

The deal will run through 2013, and the first line of products is expected to release next spring. The Joester Loria Group, exclusive licensing agency for Baby Genius, brokered the deal.

Battat Appointed As Master Toy Licensee for Baby Genius

Pacific Entertainment Corporation has appointed Battat as the master toy licensee for its Baby Genius brand for infants and toddlers, launched earlier this year. Under the written agreement, Battat will continue manufacturing an extensive line of Baby Genius pre-school learning and development toys.
