Micronauts Movie, Big Wheel TV Show to be Developed

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that J.J. Abrams, the Star Trek director, is in discussions to produce a movie based on the Micronauts, The Japanese toys were recently acquired by Hasbro. The newspaper also reports that the upcoming Hasbro-Discovery joint channel will premiere a TV show based on the Big Wheel.

Other products from Hasbro that are being developed as movies include Stretch Armstrong, Candyland, Monopoly, Battleship, Ouija, and Risk.

2009 National Toy Hall of Fame Inductees Announced

The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester has announced its 2009 inductees into the National Toy Hall of Fame: the ball, the Big Wheel tricycle, and the Game Boy.

Other nominees for this year’s National Toy Hall of Fame were Cabbage Patch Kids, the Game of Life, Hot Wheels, the paper airplane, playing cards, Rubik’s Cube, sidewalk chalk, the toy tea set, and Transformers.
