Entertainment One Licensing (eOne) will be hosting Peppa Pig storytelling sessions at the Children’s Bath Literary Festival in the UK on October 3, in partnership with eOne’s master publishing partner, Ladybird Books. There will be costume character meet and greets, as well as narration of the Ladybird book, The Big Tale of Little Peppa, to coincide with the licensor’s digital marketing activity for the brand’s Imagine with Peppa theme.
DHX Brands, the dedicated brand management and consumer products arm of DHX Media Ltd., has signed an agreement with Italian toy company Giochi Preziosi to distribute Teletubbies toys in Italy, Spain, and Portugal. The line will include: basic and feature plush; plastic toys including play sets, figures, and vehicles; and bath toys from master toy licensee Character Options.
CPLG secured deals with Ravensburger to produce themed puzzles, MV Sports for wheeled and outdoor toys, and International Greetings for the arts and crafts category. Rainbow Productions has been enlisted to create costumes based on characters Tinky Winky, Laa Laa, Dipsy, and Po.
DHX Brands has also recently appointed Character Options as global master toy partner.
Products are expected to arrive in retail locations beginning in 2016.
Character Options will launch product at retail in the UK in 2016, with other territories to follow. Core categories will be plush, plastics, and bath toys.
The much-anticipated new 60-episode series of Teletubbies has been commissioned by the UK’s CBeebies and is being produced by Darrall Macqueen Ltd. It will bring a contemporary look to the property, ensuring that it is relevant for a new generation.
Sands Alive, a new line of organic sand activity sets from Play Visions, has added distribution partners in Europe, South America, Australia, and Canada. Play Visions has joined forces with Goliath Games for Europe, Character Options for the UK, Macro Toys for Latin America, Hunter Products for Australia, and Incredible Novelties for Canda.
An organic compound that feels soft and doughy, Sands Alive can be molded or poured—just like real sand. It can also be packed to create paths or roadways with a rolling tool, or shaped into castles, forts, and other creations. Sands Alive will launch in February at the American International Toy Fair in New York City.
Techno Source, a division of LF Products, has signed a deal to distribute selected lines of toy company Character Options’ best-selling products, in the U.S. The partnership deepens the companies’ existing relationship, under which Character Options has distributed many of Techno Source’s products in the UK for nearly a decade.
Techno Source will bring to market a number of Character Options’ original and licensed toys under its Techno Source and Toy Island brands. The first products to launch under this partnership will be a Scooby-Doo toy line, as part of a licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products.
Character Options holds the master toy license for Scooby-Doo in the UK and U.S. The Scooby-Doo products, which include figures, play sets, vehicles, plush, and goo, will be available at mass and specialty retailers beginning in the spring.
