Pedigree Books Adds Augmented Reality to New Annuals

CTRA14 CUT THE ROPE INTERACTIVE ANNUAL COVER 2014Pedigree Books has announced its 2013 range of Gaming and New Media titles will feature Augmented Reality (AR) technology—an innovation the annuals category has never seen before. This range will be sold as Super Interactive Annuals 2014, available starting August 1 this year.

AR will allow consumers to get added value by downloading a free app onto their tablets and smartphones that enables them to “read” images throughout the book and unlock “Super Interactive” features. Simply holding the device over selected pages creates brand new content, such as extended character profiles, extra stories, and activities including coloring, mazes, puzzles, and a make-your-own poster feature. Around 20 percent of the pages contact an “Exclusive Super Interactive Unlock” icon that will add an exciting new dimension to the experience for Pedigree consumers.

The new technology will feature across their Gaming and New Media range, which includes brands such as Annoying Orange, Cut the Rope, Angry Birds, Angry Birds Star Wars, and Sonic The Hedgehog.

Major Publishing Deals Announced for Cut the Rope

ZeptoLab UK Limited and ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) have announced two publishing agreements aimed at the pre-teen market in the UK and Ireland. The deal was brokered by ITVS GE, licensing agent across all countries in the EU for Cut the Rope. The agreements are all part of a major period of Cut the Rope licensing activity throughout the year and well beyond, reconfirming the incredible popularity of the game and its cuddly, candy-munching star Om Nom.

Zeptolab Reveals Expanded Licensing Program at Toy Fair

ZeptoLab, the entertainment and gaming company behind the global mobile phenomenon Cut the Rope, is bringing even more ways for fans to interact with the lovable monster, Om Nom. Debuting at this year’s American International Toy Fair is Om Nom: Candy Flick, a new augmented reality game.

Om Nom: Candy Flick, available on Apple’s App Store, is unlocked via a special tag that can be found on a variety of Om Nom plush toys from toy partner, Round 5. Once downloaded, fans can bring Om Nom to life by positioning their smartphone or tablet’s camera on the tags and watch as he virtually pops out of the tag ready to devour his favorite treat: candy. Cut the Rope to Appear in Movie Theater Pre-Show, Burger King Promotion

Cut the Rope, the app from ZeptoLab, will be making its big screen debut exclusively in National CineMedia’s FirstLook pre-show in movie theaters across the country.

Now through October 25, special Cut the Rope video content, including an all-new animated short starring Om Nom, will run in NCM’s FirstLook prior to select screenings of G- and PG-rated films.

ZeptoLab has also entered into a promotional partnership with Burger King. Beginning next March, the promotion will include a fully integrated marketing campaign that includes in-restaurant merchandising with a collection of toys featuring Om Nom. With the partnership, the toys will come to life through corresponding all-new game levels released weekly via the Burger King website. Patrons of the restaurant will receive one toy as part of the kids’ meal, plus a custom code that will unlock the themed game.

Additionally, Imagine Publications will launch a range of bilingual and French activity books for Canada. The deal was brokered by Studio Licensing, Inc. Activity books will include giant pads, puzzles, boards, magnets, sticker and coloring books, and paint books. Other items include flash cards and surprise bags. The products will be available next summer.
