Uglydoll Teams up with DC Comics for Superhero Toys and Accessories

Pretty Ugly, LLC and Warner Bros. Consumer Products, on behalf of DC Entertainment, announced that they have entered into a co-branded 1209collaboration with DC Comics Super Heroes and Uglydoll characters. Gund, a division of Enesco, will produce a diverse range of colorful and collectible superhero plush based on the DC Comics and Uglydoll character universes. The initial release this fall will be a trio that includes two versions of Ice-Bat as Batman and Babo as Superman.

The plush characters will be offered at retail and will be available through Diamond Comics and a broad range of retailers. Funko is also set to offer a collection of vinyl figures based on the DC Comics and Uglydoll plush collaboration during the holiday season this year. Additional categories of merchandise and collaborative characters will be announced in the coming months.

Gund will be previewing their new collaborative plush merchandise at the summer Gift Shows and ASTRA show in June. Diamond Comics will be exhibiting at San Diego Comic-Con in July and in their infamous Previews catalog. Funko and others will launch merchandise in time for the holiday season.

Target Corp. and Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP), in partnership with DC Entertainment, have teamed up to introduce a summer collection of exclusive Justice League merchandise. The summer collection was inspired by DC Comics—The New 52 comic book character designs. Featuring the full lineup of DC Comics’ iconic Justice League Super Heroes—Aquaman, Batman, Cyborg, The Flash, Green Lantern, Superman, and Wonder Woman—the summer collection will launch at all U.S. Target stores and on Target.com beginning May 19.

The summer collection was co-created by the Target and WBCP design teams and features contemporary and nostalgic, vintage-inspired graphics and designs. With more than 50 summer products available exclusively at Target, guests will see the collection come to life in home, stationery, sporting goods, and lawn and garden. Some of the more unexpected items include melamine dinnerware that features a purple and pink-clad Wonder Woman; an apron that transforms the cook into Batman; sand toys that will help beach-goers create Gotham City; and children’s Batman, Wonder Woman, and The Flash beach towels that double as capes. Mezco to Create Figures Based on the Batman Classic TV Series

Mezco Toys is partnering with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, on behalf of DC Entertainment, to produce toys and vehicles based on the classic 1960′s Batman Classic TV Series.

The Mez-Itz line will feature the likeness of the actors from the series such as Adam West and Burt Ward, famed for their portrayals as the dynamic duo, Batman and Robin.

Mezco’s Mez-Itz line will also debut the Batman Classic TV Series toys, including the Batmobile. While the Batmobile appeared throughout the Batman comic books, the iteration designed by George Barris for the classic TV series was radically different and quickly became a fan favorite. Parents Get a New, Not-So-Secret Headquarters with Launch of DC Comics Fan Family Blog

Fans both young and young at heart will get even more of the iconic characters they love as DC Entertainment unveils the DC Comics Fan Family blog. This new family-friendly site is designed to deliver the best of the celebrated super heroes, including Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, with a slew of family-oriented content for parents to share with their kids.

The DC Comics Fan Family blog will serve as an online hub for all DC Entertainment family-friendly news and information and offer readers a variety of content including DC Comics-themed activity sheets, DIY craft projects, guest blog posts featuring DC Comics talent, and the chance for fans to see their own artwork featured with a variety of creative submission contests.

The blog will also feature the recently announced nationwide contest with Capstone, “Be a Super Hero. Read!” in which students in grades three through six are encouraged to write about the real heroes in their lives.

DC Direct Re-Launches as DC Collectibles

DC Entertainment’s collectibles product line, DC Direct, has been re-launched as a new brand: DC Collectibles. Next month, DC Collectibles will expand its online store to offer its entire product line for sale on the web, in addition to the line’s primary availability in comic book retail locations. To purchase a product in-store, the website will provide information for the closest retail location that carries a particular DC Collectibles product.

As part of the DC Collectibles online sales expansion, two online-exclusive products will be offered and a new line of custom prints will only be available online. First is a Flashpoint Action Figure Box Set including Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, and a previously unreleased Emperor Aquaman. The set also include a $500 Wayne Casino Poker Chip. The second is a Heroes of the DC Universe: Blackest Night Green Lantern and Sinestro Bust. Batman Live Worldwide Arena Tour Coming to North America

After a tour throughout the United Kingdom, Europe, and Latin America, Batman Live is coming to North America September 5. Written by Allen Heinberg and produced by Nick Grace of Water Lane Productions, Batman Live features stunts, pyrotechnics, illusions, and video screen sequences. The 42-member cast delivers a two-hour show and includes a new original storyline featuring Batman, Robin, Alfred the Butler, and additional characters such as, The Joker, Catwoman, The Riddler, Harley Quinn, and more.

Green Lantern Toys Showcased at Toy Fair

Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) is gearing up for the June 17 release of Green Lantern with a worldwide licensing program led by DC Entertainment’s master toy licensee, Mattel.

The video above shows some of the company’s Green Lantern products showcased at Toy Fair. Mattel’s multi-category Green Lantern toy line will include basic and deluxe action figures, figure/vehicles, role-play, play sets, games, puzzles, and vehicles.

Warner Bros. Announces Licensees for Green Lantern

Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) has announced the worldwide licensing program for Warner Bros. Pictures’ Green Lantern, to hit theaters June 17. The program will be led by DC Entertainment’s master toy licensee, Mattel.

Mattel will debut a toy line that will include the Green Lantern Ring Blast Jet Figure & Vehicle, the Green Lantern Battle Shifters Figures, and the Green Lantern Movie Masters Figures.
