Two familiar faces from the Marvel Universe—one friendly, the other slightly less so—make their way into Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes (2.0 Edition) today. Fans will be able to purchase figures for Falcon and Loki, who join a variety of Marvel super heroes, Disney fan favorites, and more to create all-new adventures.
With one week until Christmas, Target Corp. will offer last-minute deals and free shipping on target.com, where orders placed through December 20 can still be delivered by Christmas. Meanwhile, on Christmas Eve, guests can place online orders for store pickup as late as 5 p.m. and have their items ready that day.
Over the next week, Target will offer deals on gifts including the Sony PlayStation 4; select video games and starter packs, including Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, Disney Infinity Marvel, and Skylanders Trap Team; select Disney Junior toys; and the New Bright Mud Slinger R/C Jeep.
Cartwheel, Target’s mobile savings app, is offering 50 percent off a different toy every day until December 24. From now until Christmas, Cartwheel is also featuring more than 150 offers, including discounts off Sony PlayStation 4 bundles.
Target stores are also offering extended hours through the holiday season, with the following days and times: December 16 to 20, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. or 12 a.m.; December 21 to 22, 8 a.m. to 12 a.m.; December 23, 7 a.m. to 12 a.m.; December 24, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. or 10 p.m.; December 26, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., 11 p.m., or 12 a.m.; and December 31, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Disney Interactive has released the Disney Infinity: Toy Box Starter Pack (2.0 Edition), a Disney-themed Starter Pack featuring Disney Originals Figures of Merida and Stitch, as well as new Toy Box Games set in the worlds of Lilo and Stitch and Brave. Along with the new versions of Stitch and Merida, the company plans to add Donald Duck, Tinker Bell, Maleficent, and Aladdin, as well as Hiro and Baymax from the upcoming Big Hero 6 to the Disney Originals Figures line.
This special edition Starter Pack lets fans use existing Disney figures and Power Discs, new Disney Originals characters, and the latest additions from Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes.
Kids these days may not know that Superman, Spider-Man, and Batman (among many, many others) hailed from glorious comic books first published in the 1930s, costing someone 10 cents an issue on the stands. They also may not realize how well some have held their value, being that the very first Superman comic, Action Comics No. 1, supposedly goes for $3.2 million dollars—but let’s not get too sidetracked.
The real point here is that today, September 25, is National Comic Book Day, and it’s hard to imagine the toy aisles without the superheroes and villains who once upon a time, were neither action figures nor stars on the silver screen played by big-league actors and actresses; but instead, started out as hand-illustrated drawings on a comic strip. Disney Interactive and Marvel have launched Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes, the follow-up to last year’s toy/video game hybrid. The Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes Starter Pack features the 2.0 game software; the Disney Infinity 2.0 Base; Marvel’s The Avengers Play Set with Iron Man, Black Widow, and Thor figures; two Toy Box Game Discs; and a web code card. The game will feature a storyline that follows the Green Goblin as he tries to destroy S.H.I.E.L.D. once and for all. He has captured Venom to extract clone symbiotes and hired Mysterio to wreck havoc on the Marvel Universe with him. Players will fight the symbiotes and face off against the villains.
The play set will include playable characters such as Spider-Man, Nick Fury, Iron Fists, and Venom with additional appearances by White Tiger, Black Cat, and Luke Cage. Spider-Man, Nick Fury, Iron Fist, Nova, and Venom will be playable in the new Toy Box 2.0 mode of the game. When players complete the play set, items will unlock to be used along with hundreds of other Marvel and Disney-themed items.
The Spider-Man Play Set will be available in retail stores this fall.
Disney Interactive and Marvel Entertainment are assembling a group of iconic super heroes for Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes, which will feature more than 20 new interactive figures, as well as original storylines by Marvel comic writer Brian Michael Bendis. Developed by Avalanche Software, the game includes an all-new Toy Box mode, making it easier for players to create and share with family and friends.
