Disney Junior Live On Tour! Pirate and Princess Adventure Tours Nationally Through 2013

FELD ENTERTAINMENT, INC. JAKE AND SOFIAFeld Entertainment, Inc., producers of Disney On Ice and Disney Live!, is taking cable TV series for preschoolers to the stage in Disney Junior Live On Tour! Pirate and Princess Adventure. Featuring characters from the TV hits Sofia the First and Jake and the Never Land Pirates, the new production launches a 90-city national tour in July, followed by its world premiere in Hollywood, Cal., on September 27. Tickets for all 2013 engagements go on sale May 28.

In this original storyline, Mickey and Minnie lead the audience on an adventure that will have families rooting for their favorite pirate Jake and Disney’s first little girl princess Sofia. Toys “R” Us Dives Into the Underwater World of Octonauts

Toys “R” Us will introduce an assortment of toys from Fisher-Price based on the underwater world of Octonauts, which will splash into its stores nationwide and online at Toysrus.com beginning in March. “Meet the Small Potatoes” to Debut on Disney Junior in the U.S., Japan

Disney Junior has acquired the rights to air the 45-minute movie special debut of Meet the Small Potatoes in the U.S. and Japan.The first animated movie from Little Airplane Productions, Meet the Small Potatoes stars the four singing spuds alongside British actor Malcolm McDowell. The movie will premiere in the U.S. on Disney Channel and Disney Junior early next year and in Japan on Disney Junior later in the year.

The film was written and directed by Josh Selig (Wonder Pets, 3rd & Bird). The music for the film was written and produced by the team at Little Airplane and features original songs by the late Jerry Bock (Fiddler on the Roof). Beginning Monday, November 5, DisneyJunior.com invites families to visit DisneyJunior.com/SmallPotatoes where parents can submit photos of their children for a chance to have them “potato-ized” and featured in the movie.

Selig will take part in a special MIP Junior session in Cannes at 10 a.m. on Sunday October 7, talking about the success of the Small Potatoes as a cross platform project.  The session, “KIDS IP, Where Does It Come From,” will be held at the Martinez Hotel.

Anchor Bay Announces New Chuggington DVD, Traintastic Adventure Sweepstakes

This fall, preschoolers can enjoy the newest DVD series in the Chugginton collection: Traintastic Adventures. The collection will include six episodes and a bonus Badge Quest short filled with  positive messages aimed at keeping preschoolers on the right track as they learn and grow. The collection will also include four collectible trading cards as an added treat.

As part of the promotion for the DVD launch, fans nationwide will have a chance to enter the Traintastic Adventure Sweepstakes. Guess How Much I Love You Series to Premiere March 23

Preschool animated series Guess How Much I Love You—The Adventures of Little Nutbrown Hare will premiere on March 23 as part of the programming lineup for Disney Junior’s launch day as a 24-hour network. 
The series, featuring 52 x 11-minute episodes, is the first adaptation of the classic Guess How Much I Love You picture book, written by Sam McBratney, illustrated by Anita Jeram, and published globally by Candlewick Press/Walker Books. CCI Entertainment holds the worldwide television distribution rights and licensing rights in Latin America, Asia, Middle East, and Africa. Candlewick Press/Walker Books holds the global TV tie-in publishing rights and the rights for licensing the series in North America and Europe, in addition to the global licensing rights for the classic picture book.

Little Airplane Productions Announces Factory Tour for Families

Little Airplane Productions is launching The Small Potatoes Animation Factory Tour, a family-friendly guided tour of its animation studio, which is located in New York City’s South Street Seaport. The tour will allow fans to have face-to-face time with the main characters of the company’s latest animated television series, Small Potatoes. The series launched in the U.S. in September on Disney Junior.

During the tour, every aspect of production—from writing to animation to voice-over recording—will be explain by the creative team at Little Airplane. At each stop on the tour, families can participate in hands-on activities, ranging from helping animate a character to having their own voices recorded in a professional audio booth. Serving as the highlight of the tour is a “hologram” inside a wooden red barn, and families can peek inside to see the Small Potatoes sing and dance.

Octonauts Set to Premiere in Germany This Summer

Chorion has secured its first major multi-rights deal with German broadcaster Super RTL. The channel has acquired 50 x 11’ minutes and 2 x 22-minute specials of Chorion’s preschool series Octonauts, with a second window to play on Disney Germany. The deal combines TV, home entertainment, and licensing and merchandising rights for the brand. The TV series is planned to debut in Germany on Disney Junior this summer and on Super RTL this fall. The deal follows the agreement with Disney U.S. for the premiere of Octonauts on Disney Junior next year.

Disney to Continue Expanding Retail Presence and Products

Disney Consumer Products (DCP) is set to release new product developments in each of its properties within the next year.

Disney Baby: Disney is investing in this property by creating a two-way dialogue with new moms on a digital platform, social media, product seeding and a loyalty program. The first Disney Baby concept store will open in fall 2012 at The Americana at Brand in Glendale, Calf.

Disney-Pixar Cars and Toy Story: The Cars franchise has generated global retail sales of more than $10 billion. Cars 2 retail merchandise began to roll out globally in mid-May and DCP will continue to support the franchise with a wide assortment of products next year. Cars Toons will be previewed before Cars 2 in movie theaters and will also be in heavy circulation on Disney Channel. Summer 2012 will mark the opening of “Cars Land,” a 12-acre stretch of new interactive entertainment development at Disney’s California Adventure. Toy Story will also be developed as Toy Story Toon along with Cars.

Mickey Mouse and Winnie The Pooh: One of Disney’s most popular characters, Mickey Mouse remains a top-selling franchise with projections set at $9 billion global retail sales for fiscal year 2011. Winnie The Pooh returns to the big screen in the U.S. next month with anticipated success due to positive sales from the European release earlier this year. The Winnie The Pooh: What’s A Bear To Do? Puzzle Book app has topped the sales charts for the iPhone and iPad in 12 countries.

Tinga Tinga Tales Premieres in U.S., New Licensees Announced

Classic Media has announced new licenses for newly premiered television series Tinga Tinga Tales, including Ravensburger for puzzles, Pressman Toy Corporation for games, and University Games for Colorforms activity products. The new licensees will join master toy partner Bandai and master publishing partner Grosset & Dunlap.

Tinga Tinga Tales is an animated preschool series about how animals came to be. Inspired by traditional animal folktales from Africa and the colorful Tingatinga art style of Tanzania, the series is created by producer Claudia Lloyd (Charlie and Lola) and produced entirely on location in Africa by local artists.

Tinga Tinga Tales premiered on February 14 with the launch of the Disney Junior block on Disney Channel. The series, for kids ages 2-7, airs weekdays in the U.S. at 11 a.m. ET/PT. Bandai will release interactive toys based on the series in fall 2012.
