Winner Announced in Skylanders Choose and Name a New Hero Contest

SkylandersLogoPhylicia Nakamoto, from Elk Grove, Calif., is the fan-selected winner of the Skylanders Choose and Name a New Hero promotion. Her winning entry, High Five, is a royal dragonfly that is able to fly higher and faster than any other hero in Skylands. Phylicia will receive a $100,000 scholarship and High Five will be featured in the Skylanders franchise.

Earlier this year, Frito-Lay North America and Activision Publishing Inc. gave fans the opportunity to choose and name a new hero that would appear in the upcoming Skylanders Trap Team game, which will be released on October 5 in North America. Along with High Five, the other two finalist characters—Bat Spin, a female bat with magical powers, and Flip Wreck, an adventurous dolphin—will also have roles in the new game.

The three finalists were revealed in May, and consumers were invited to visit www.fritolay.com/skylanders to vote for their favorite. This marks the third Skylanders promotion between Activision and Frito-Lay.

Activision and Frito-Lay Team Up to Let Fans Choose New Skylanders Hero

FRITO-LAY NORTH AMERICA , ACTIVISION, SKYLANDERSActivision Publishing Inc. and PepsiCo‘s Frito-Lay North America division are providing fans with the opportunity to choose and name a new hero that will appear in the next Skylanders game, which is slated for release this year. The winner will also receive a $100,000 scholarship.

Between now and March 21, fans 18 years and older can visit Frito-Lay’s official site to select one of three potential heroes they want to see come to life in the next Skylanders game. They can also find more details and official rules. Once their Skylanders selection is made, contestants submit a suggested name and a 200-character or less inspiration for the name they chose.

In May, one fan-created name for each of the three potential heroes will be selected by a panel of judges and announced as finalists, and fans 13 years and older will be invited to vote online for the hero they want. Later this year, the winning hero will be revealed. The official name for that Skylanders hero and will appear in a variety of places, such as on Skylanders packaging and the Skylanders game.

This marks the third consecutive year in which Activision has partnered with Frito-Lay for the Skylanders franchise.

Frito-Lay and Activision Partner for Skylanders Giants

Skylanders-Giants-logoPepsiCo‘s Frito-Lay North America division and Activision Publishing Inc. have launched a summer promotion for Skylanders Giants. The promotion includes the free Skylanders Giants In-Store Adventure mobile app, which is available for download on iOS and Android platforms. Once downloaded, users can scan in-store barcode headers and special-edition Frito-Lay variety packs to see a Skylanders Giants character appear on their mobile device.

Players can also obtain limited-edition Skylanders Giants Sidekicks figures by purchasing specially-marked Frito-Lay 20-count variety packs and entering the in-pack code online. Four different figures, compatible with the Skylanders Giants video game, are available through this offer.

When shoppers use the app to scan all three Frito-Lay and Skylanders Giants in-store displays, they’ll unlock additional interactive content. The promotion ends September 2.
