Special Alien: Isolation Content Unites Original Movie Cast

AlienIsolationAlien: Isolation will include exclusive pre-order bonus content, featuring the vocal talent and likenesses of key cast members of the 1979 Twentieth Century Fox movie, Alien. Sigourney Weaver (who played Ellen Ripley), Tom Skerritt (Dallas), Veronica Cartwright (Lambert), Harry Dean Stanton (Brett), Yaphet Kotto (Parker) and Ian Holm (Ash) are set to feature in two downloadable bonus missions, which allow players to relive classic scenes from the movie.

Anyone who pre-orders the game will get a free upgrade to the Nostromo Edition, which includes the bonus content, Crew Expendable. Players can choose to play as one of three surviving crewmembers, only moments after Brett’s death at the jaws of the creature. As Ellen Ripley, Dallas, or Parker, players can explore the Nostromo from habitation deck down through engineering, coordinating their efforts with Lambert and Ash to lure the Alien into the ship’s airlock. Ubisoft’s The Crew Accelerates This Fall in Two Different Versions

TheCrewThe Crew, from Ubisoft, will be available this fall for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. An action-driving game that takes gamers on a reckless ride throughout a massive, open-world recreation of the United States full of challenges and populated by other real players, The Crew is available for pre-order in both Limited Edition and Muscle Edition.

Orders for the Limited Edition come with early access to the BMW Z4 sDrive35is, Mini Cooper S, and Dodge Ram SRT-10 rides and their respective sets of full custom and performance parts. The Muscle Edition, available for pre-order at GameStop, will include all early unlock content from the Limited Edition, as well as exclusive early access to the 2015 Ford Mustang GT.

GameStop Survey of Shoppers Reveals Top Priority Gifts

GameStop and research partner Brierley+Partners asked 500 U.S. gift givers what was at the top of their purchase lists this holiday season. The results revealed that 42 percent of shoppers surveyed plan on purchasing video game related items for their children this holiday—including video games, consoles, and accessories.

Gift givers are not only hot on gaming presents this year, but they are also keen on ways to save more money before even making it up to the cash register. Eighty-four percent of shoppers are aware of store and website trade-in programs, and nearly 20 percent planning to use them to help defer gift costs. From old video games and consoles, to smartphones, tablets, and other electronics sitting in drawers and on shelves, GameStop offers instant store credit or cash on a vast range of products.

Additional interesting findings from GameStop’s holiday shopper-centric survey include:

  • Eighty-two percent of shoppers expect to turn to store employees when making purchasing decisions this holiday season.
  • Among shoppers who are planning on purchasing a new gaming console for the holidays, 61 percent expect their children to utilize the system the most.
  • Roughly 30 percent of shoppers expect the entire family to use the new console.
  • When making decisions on which next-generation console and games to buy, shoppers are listening to specific requests from the people they are buying for, with 84 percent taking requests for consoles, and 86 percent taking requests for specific video games.

Activision’s Call of Duty and Eminem Come Together for Ultimate Fan Offer

Call-of-DutyActivistion’s most anticipated game, Call of Duty: Ghosts and music icon, Eminem’s new The Marshall Mathers LP 2 will both drop on November 5. In collaboration with GameStop, anyone who pre-orders Call of Duty: Ghosts at GameStop will get his or her copy at the launch, which will include a code to download a special edition of The Marshall Mathers LP 2, featuring the track “Survival” plus a bonus studio track for a discounted price.

The ongoing collaboration between Activision and Eminem will continue later this month with a music video trailer featuring “Survival” and Call of Duty: Ghosts, and will extend throughout the launch of the title. The offer is redeemable through Monday, November 19, 11:59 p.m. EST.

The news of this limited-time offer follows additional pre-order headlines from last week, in which Activision and GameStop revealed that gamers who pre-order Call of Duty: Ghosts at GameStop will receive a pack of content that includes the bonus classic Simon “Ghost” Riley multiplayer character. Made famous in the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the return of one of the most iconic characters in Call of Duty history as a playable multiplayer character is a first for the series and is a pre-order incentive only available at GameStop.

Call of Duty: Ghosts will release on Xbox 360 game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, PC, and Wii U on November 5. The title will also release on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 later this year. Call of Duty: Ghosts is rated M for Mature by the ESRB.

 

Nintendo Announces Special-Edition Legend of Zelda Wii U Bundle, 2DS Portable

legendofzeldaAt a GameStop managers show in Las Vegas, Nintendo announced its holiday slate as well as a price drop of $50 for the Wii U Deluxe Set that will go into effect on September 20. On the same day, the company will also launch a limited-edition Wii U bundle featuring The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD.

The limited-edition Wii U bundle includes a black deluxe Wii U console, a controller adorned with gold lettering and symbols from the game, and download code for a digital version of Hyrule Historia, a book detailing the history of The Legend of Zelda franchise. The digital version of the game itself will also be available September 20, while the packaged version arrives on October 4.

Meanwhile, the company’s Nintendo 2DS, a portable gaming system that plays Nintendo 3DS and DS games, albeit in 2-D, launches on October 12. Nintendo’s slate for both the Wii U and 3DS in the coming months includes third-party titles such as Scribblenauts Unmasked-A DC Comics Adventure from Warner Bros. Interactive and Skylanders Swap Force from Activision.

GameStop Opens Pre-Orders for Skylanders Swap Force Starter Pack

swapGameStop has announced the exclusive Skylanders Swap Force Dark Edition Starter Pack, for the Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360, and PS3 systems, is now available for pre-order.

The Dark Edition Starter Pack includes: the video game, a Portal of Power, five exclusive Dark Edition Skylanders figures, a character poster, five sticker sheets with secret codes, five trading cards. Customers that pre-order a Skylanders Swap Force Starter Pack (Dark Edition or Regular Edition) will receive a free new LightCore Hex Skylanders figure while supplies last.

Customers can pre-order Skylanders Swap Force at GameStop online or stores nationwide.

Activision to Sell Limited Edition Dog Tags to Benefit the Call of Duty Endowment

It’s time to get tagged! Activision Publishing, Inc. has announced the sale of limited edition dog tags that will benefit the Call of Duty Endowment, a non-profit that helps veterans find jobs by assisting organizations that provide job placement and training services for veterans.

The dog tags will be available throughout the holiday season in more than 12,000 stores across the country including GameStop, Walmart, Toys “R” Us, Best Buy, and Target.

Customers will find the dog tags in dedicated Call of Duty sections and counter displays. Activision will be donating proceeds from the sales of the dog tags to the Call of Duty Endowment.
