Genius Brands International Inc. (GBI) and its wholly owned subsidiary, A Squared Entertainment, have finalized a licensing agreement with License 2 Play for the development of plush toys for From Frank. The announcement was made today by Stone Newman, GBI’s President of Global Consumer Products.
License 2 Play will develop a broad range of plush consumer products based on From Frank images and witticisms. The products will be available for the holiday season through various national stores and online retailers.

Genius Brands International, the creators of Warren Buffett’s Secret Millionaire’s Club, announced the winners of the 4th annual Warren Buffett’s Secret Millionaires Club Grow Your Own Business Challenge, sponsored by the Fairholme Foundation. The Individual Winner is Miroslav Bergam, 14, of Short Hills, N.J., and the group winner is Team Keep Track Sticky Back, consisting of Emily Harkins, 12, and Bryn Hansen, 11, of Omaha, Neb.
Genius Brands International (GBI) has launched its 4th Annual Secret Millionaires Club Grow Your Own Business Challenge. The national online competition was created to encourage kids to be entrepreneurial and to practice good financial habits from an early age.
Kids ages 7 to 14 are invited to submit original business ideas for consideration in the competition. Five individuals and three groups will be selected as finalists to present their ideas to Warren Buffett and a panel of VIP judges next May.

Genius Brands International Inc. (GBI) has appointed Stone Newman to the newly created post of president, Global Consumer Products. In this new role, Newman will work with retailers and licensees to build comprehensive consumer products programs for each of the company’s brands, including Baby Genius, Secret Millionaires Club, Stan Lee’s Mighty 7, and others. He will also appoint and oversee a team of licensing agencies from around the world to operate as sub agents.
Newman will continue to manage licensing programs represented by his former company, Art + Science International, including WowWee brands, ElectroKidz, MiP, and Archie Comics. These brands will now be managed under GBI’s wholly owned subsidiary, A Squared Entertainment LLC.
Genius Brands International Inc. and A Squared Entertainment LLC will merge to form an intellectual property (IP) and multimedia content creation and distribution company focused on branded content with a purpose for kids. The assets and experience of both companies will be consolidated under the Genius Brands International banner.
Andy Heyward, formerly CEO of DIC Entertainment and co-president of A Squared Entertainment, will assume the role of Chairman and CEO of Genius Brands International. Amy Moynihan Heyward, formerly co-president of A Squared Entertainment, will serve as president. Klaus Moeller, currently CEO of Genius, will become vice president of special markets, and will continue with the company as a member of its board of directors.
The company will utilize its combined strengths to build upon its unique “content with a purpose” positioning. In addition to producing original content with subject matter experts, the company will develop interactive digital entertainment in all formats including broadcast, online, mobile, tablets, and more. A comprehensive consumer products program will be created to extend the learning into other areas outside of digital media.
Andy Heyward is a multi-Emmy Award-winning producer of children’s entertainment. He has produced more than 5,000 episodes of award-winning children’s programs, including Inspector Gadget, Alvin and the Chipmunks, G.I. Joe, Hello Kitty’s Furry Tale Theatre, and Sonic the Hedgehog. Amy Moynihan Heyward is a brand-marketing executive who has spent more than 20 years managing, creating, and launching brands with a focus on kids.
Genius Brands International Inc., developer and marketer of entertainment products including the Baby Genius line of music and edutainment products and characters, has formed a strategic partnership with Pacific Media Technologies’ Pacific Digital Distribution (PDD) division to bring the entire catalog of Baby Genius video, music, and digital content to a global audience.
PDD, a digital video services company dedicated to the distribution of content to broadcast, cable, Internet, and mobile video platforms, will connect consumers to Baby Genius content through its proprietary Cloud Video On Demand WAVE platform. WAVE is an enabled content management system that includes an e-commerce model for online payment gateways and manages digital distribution to any end-points including all mobile and connected devices, and content models including VOD and subscription rentals.
The new Baby Genius streaming service will be available to consumers beginning in October at a monthly subscription rate for immediate access to 125 Baby Genius videos and 500 Baby Genius songs. Additional digital content including Baby Genius ebooks and Baby Genius apps will be added to the service next year.
