Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has released five collectible Lego Dimensions expansion packs based on Ghostbusters, DC Comics, Doctor Who, Back to the Future, and Lego Ninjago. Diamond Select Toys (DST) will be participating in New York Comic Con with panels, signings, and more scheduled for all four days of the convention. Of the two panels DST will host, the first, Diamond Select Toys: The Best of All Worlds, will take place on October 9 at 5 p.m. in Room 1A18. DST president Chuck Terceira and sculptor Eli Livingston will talk about upcoming products, give away prizes, and announce a new toy line.
On October 11, at 4:15 p.m. in Room 1A24, Minimates product manager Robert Yee and designer Uriel Caton will join Terceira for Minimates MiniFigures: From Marvel to Clerks to TMNT! They will discuss upcoming Minimates releases, give away more prizes, and unveil the next Marvel Minimates assortment.
Before and after the Minimates panel, Caton will sign full-size Minimates posters at booth 1736. Finally, every morning at the start of the show, DST will give out a free Ghostbusters promotional Minimate, while supplies last. A limited number will be given out each day, Thursday through Sunday. Throughout the weekend, DST will also give out free full-size posters featuring original Aliens, Ghostbusters, and Marvel Minimates artwork.
Big Tent Entertainment has lined up more partners to represent the pop-culture mash-up of Domo and Slimer. Underground Toys, Kelly Toy, and Funko will be releasing products portraying Domo as the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, Slimer, and a full-fledged Ghostbuster.
Underground Toys will create a line featuring plush, mugs, stickers, and more for department stores, specialty stores, stationery and gift stores, catalogs, and Internet retailers worldwide (excluding Asia). Kelly Toys will create multiple sizes of soft-sculptured toys for amusement parks and carnival and prize games in the U.S. and Canada.

Ghostbusters is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and Funko LLC has favorite characters in Pop! form to help mark the occasion. These figures include Dr. Peter Venkman, Dr. Raymond Stantz, Dr. Egon Spengler, and Slimer with a translucent base. Funko is also introducing a new Pop! Ride featuring Winston Zeddmore in the Ecto-1, as well as a 6-inch Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, which makes the first of the company’s new Super Sized Pop!’s.
Dr. Venkman, Dr. Stantz, Dr. Spengler, Slimer, and Stay Puft Marshmallow Man will be available in April, while Winston in the Ecto-1 will be available in May.
Funko is set to launch two new lines of licensed figures this year. Fabrikations consists of 6-inch soft-sculpted figures featuring a rotating head as well as vinyl accessories. Each Fabrikation is weighted, allowing it to stand securely on a surface.
This spring and summer, Funko will also be launching Hikari Japanese Vinyl, a collectible line of clear Sofubi vinyl inspired by Japanese vinyl figures. Each piece will be hand-numbered, limited edition, and come packaged in a clear tube with an on/off LED light for display purposes.
Ghostbusters, one of the most successful film franchises of all time, will be celebrating its 30th Anniversary next year. Sony Pictures Consumer Products (SPCP) will launch an all new program targeting the core fan base with products in categories such as apparel, toys, construction, collectibles, and publishing through partnerships. SPCP will participate in events and engage in new partnerships sure to excite fans new and old.
SPCP has partnered with pop culture art gallery, Gallery 1988 to create a traveling art show designed by top artists, which will include their interpretations of Ghostbusters over the last 30 years. Limited-edition screen prints and posters will be available during each stop of the tour, which will conclude at Comic-Con International in San Diego.
Some of the global toy, publishing, and apparel licensees supporting the anniversary are Mattel Inc., IDW Publishing, World Tech Toys, Quantum Mechanics, Factory Entertainment, Diamond Select and Medicom Toys, Mad Engine, Titan Figures, Uniqlo, Kientai, and BCI. Funko and Underground Toys will produce collectibles and novelty products.
Qubo Channel announces the launch of 12 new animated and live-action series with several U.S. premieres that will roll out on the network beginning this summer through fall. The diverse mix of family friendly programming includes the return of The Magic School Bus series from Scholastic for the fall and the U.S. premiere of the animated series Vitaminix, a series of shorts encouraging good eating habits for kids.
Additionally, Qubo brings to its schedule the U.S. premieres of The Mysteries of Alfred Hedgehog, Willa’s Wild Life, Shelldon, Pearlie, and Mighty Machines, plus new episodes of the returning series Turbo Dogs.
In addition, beginning this fall season, Qubo will launch a classic weekend animation block featuring the newly acquired He-Man and the Masters of the Universe; She-Ra, Princess of Power; BraveStarr; and the animated Ghostbusters. To round out the schedule, Qubo will debut Animal Exploration with Jarrod Miller in the fall.
Harold Ramis, the co-writer of the original 1984 Ghostbusters film, has confirmed to Heebmagazine.com that there are plans for a third film in the series, slated to be filmed next summer and released in 2011. The Ghostbusters 3 project is expected to include many members of the original cast and new, younger Ghostbusters.
