GUND delivered a donation of over one thousand cans of pet food to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the humane treatment of animals. Gund, in partnership with Grumpy Cat, has donated more than 1,000 cans of cat food to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center. The company promised to donate one can of cat food to the nonprofit organization for every business card collected during North American International Toy Fair.
Throughout the event, approximately 500 visitors dropped off business cards. The Grumpy Cat team, during an in-booth live appearance by Grumpy Cat, offered to match Gund’s donation for the final total.
This year, Gund is expanding several popular licensed product lines with new characters, costumes, and formats. Licenses include Sesame Street; Peter Rabbit; Boo, the World’s Cutest Dog; Grumpy Cat; Curious George; and Uglydoll. Macy’s will be introducing the Holiday Arcade, in-store gifting shops offering customers an eclectic assortment of distinctive and playful options for their holiday shopping lists. These shops will launch at six Macy’s locations between late October and mid-November:
- Macy’s South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, Calif.
- Macy’s Union Square in San Francisco, Calif.
- Macy’s Dadeland in Miami, Fla.
- Macy’s State Street in Chicago, Ill.
- Macy’s Herald Square in New York, N.Y.
- Macy’s Center City in Philadelphia, Pa.
The Holiday Arcade at five locations including Macy’s South Coast Plaza, Macy’s Union Square, Macy’s State Street, Macy’s Herald Square, and Macy’s Center City will be home to exclusive Build-A-Bear Workshop shop-in-shops. Three styles of Plush Grumpy Cat stuffed animal toys from Ganz are being recalled. The stuffed animals’ eyes can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children. No injuries have been reported, although Ganz has received six reports of eyes detaching from the toys.

Grumpy Cat, the famously pessimistic, yet hilarious Internet sensation with over 1 million Facebook fans, has signed new deals for branded toys.
Gund, a division of Enesco LLC in the U.S., has acquired worldwide licensing rights to manufacture and distribute Grumpy Cat plush. Gund’s Grumpy Cat was launched in July and is currently being sold to all upstairs channels and specialty markets. The plush recreates the title feline’s famous frowning face. Delivery to stores will begin November 1.
Meanwhile, TCG and Ganz of Canada were also granted worldwide licensing rights to manufacture, distribute, and market a line of consumer products for Grumpy Cat and her brother Pokey. TCG will create puzzles and novelty plush toys for the mass market, and Ganz will produce gift items and plush. TCG and Ganz products are expected to hit retail shelves in December.
