Hasbro has teamed up with the crowdfunding website Indiegogo to find the next hit face-to-face party game, which the toymaker can help cultivate and bring to market. The toymaker is calling on game designers nationwide to share ideas for a new party game at www.nextgreatgamechallenge.com.
Tim Walsh and Peggy Brown have launched an Indiegogo campaign with the goal of creating a film about John Spinello, who invented the classic game Operation. The movie, entitled Buzz Heard ’Round the World: The Inventor of Operation and the Power of Play, would pick up on the life of Spinello, who back in 1964, sold the patent to Operation to a toy development company for only $500.
Herokins, from Little Heroes Technologies, is a line of wearable smart toys that foster shared experiences between parents and children. Herokins celebrates the adventure of learning through engaging StoryQuests that intrinsically motivate children to gain their independence while staying safe. The line features a mobile app, as well as two Bluetooth-enabled action figures, Axel McRed and Dr. Rose, which guide users on adventures that strengthen family bonds and facilitate learning.

An Indiegogo campaign has been launched for Beach Chess, which consists of one white cube and one black cube. Each of the cube’s six faces features an outline of each of the six unique chess pieces—pawn, rook, knight, bishop, king, queen.
Each cube measures about 2.5 inches square and fits in the hand. The black cube makes a fully depressed imprint in the sand, whereas the white cube only makes an outlined imprint so you can tell the difference between the “white” and “black” pieces. [Read more...]
