Five Thousand Words Added to Merriam-Webster’s Official Scrabble Players Dictionary

scrabbleUnder license from Hasbro Inc., Merriam-Webster will release the fifth edition of The Official Scrabble Players Dictionary, marking the dictionary’s first major update in nearly a decade. More than 5,000 new words will be added to the dictionary–including geocache, a word chosen by fans in the Scrabble Word Showdown earlier this year–making them all officially playable in the game. Players in the U.S. and Canada will now be able to rack up points with geocache and other words that have entered language recently, including beatbox, chillax, frenemy, hashtag, joypad, mixtape, mojito, ponzu, selfie, soju, sudoku, texter, vodcast, vlog, and yuzu. VTech Taps Jennifer Eiselein to Lead Marketing Team

VTech-LogoVTech has hired Jennifer Eiselein, a former Amazon senior manager who was instrumental in the launches of the company’s Kindle tablets and e-readers, as its new marketing director. She will lead VTech’s marketing team from its U.S. headquarters in Chicago, oversee the creation and execution of innovative campaigns for VTech’s brands, employ strategies to generate brand awareness, and target customers to enhance growth in key markets.

Prior to joining VTech, Eiselein served as senior manager for merchandising and marketing at Amazon’s Appstore in the U.S. and Canada.

Moshi Monsters Village Launches on Mobile and Tablet

MoshiMonstersVillageThe world of Moshi Monsters is now available globally on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Moshi Monsters Village, developed by Mind Candy in collaboration with Tag Games, lets players embark on fun-filled 3-D quests to rescue captured Moshlings and defeat naughty Glumps in mini-games. The game also features Facebook social connectivity and friend code shares, so players can interact with their friends Moshi Monsters villages and see how they compare.

Moshi Monsters Village can be downloaded for free at the App Store, although some game items can be purchased for real money. Parents or players who do not want to use this feature are able to disable in-app purchases in their device’s settings. Google Play, Android, and Kindle versions of the game will be available this month.

Author Releases Children’s Christmas Book Focused on Faith

The Donkey In the Living Room, based on a unique tradition inspired by author Sarah Cunningham’s dad, serves as the author’s response to the elf-laden holiday classic, Elf on the Shelf.
