Hasbro Elects Michael Burns to Board of Directors

Since joining Lionsgate in 2000, Mr. Burns has been instrumental in building the company into a multi-billion dollar global content leader with a major presence in motion picture production and distribution, television programming and syndication, home entertainment, channel platforms, and digital distribution.

LeapFrog Debuts the Latest Letter Factory Adventures Video, Counting on Lemonade

LeapFrog-logoLeapFrog Enterprises Inc. and Lionsgate have released LeapFrog Letter Factory Adventures: Counting on Lemonade, the second full-length learning program in the Letter Factory Adventures animated series. It features state of the art CGI animation with a new generation of the popular frog characters made famous in the original Letter Factory programs.

In addition to the four learning programs, LeapFrog’s new frogs will star in future products, including the new LeapFrog Learning Library game, Letter Factory Rainforest Adventures, and games in the Learning Library of the LeapTV educational active video game system.

MGA Introduces New Fashion Doll Line, Lalaloopsy Girls

LalaloopsyGirls.art1.lowresThe Lalaloopsy doll brand, from MGA Entertainment, will make its first foray into fashion dolls with Lalaloopsy Girls. The brand’s storyline centers on 10 characters who attend a special magic academy for girls, Lalaloopsy Academy for Learning Arts, aka L.A.L.A. Prep. There they take magic classes on topics such as cloud-sculpting, and share dorm rooms, secrets, and humorous life moments.

Lalaloopsy Girls will feature vibrantly-colored, 11-inch dolls with different fashions, and each doll will have lanyard hair that magically colors when streaked with cold water. In addition, each doll will come packaged with an extra outfit consisting of a personal, two-piece pajama fashion set, as well as two hair clips and a pet.

The original Lalaloopsy brand debuted four years ago with a suggested age range of 4 and up. According to Rachel Moshe, brand manager at MGA Entertainment, the new line is intended for the oldest girls in that age group.

“If you fell in love with the brand in 2010 and were four years old, that would now make you 8, so you’d probably be going into fashion dolls,” says Moshe. “So we thought it would be appropriate to launch a fashion doll line-up that keeps girls into the brand a little bit longer. This is really to add a doll line-up for the older girl–still not much older than the current Lalaloopsy consumer, but a little bit older than what we’d been targeting before.” [Read more...]

Saban and Lionsgate Team Up for Power Rangers Feature Film

MightyMorphinAfter more than 20 years of continuous production as a live-action TV series, Saban BrandsMighty Morphin Power Rangers will be re-envisioned as a new film franchise. Produced in partnership with Lionsgate, the live-action Power Rangers movie will center on a group of high school kids who are infused with unique super powers, and must harness and use them as a team if they are to save the world.

Currently, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers products include toys, apparel, costumes, video games, and other merchandise.

LeapFrog Tops Children’s Tablets Sales, Unveils Learning Video Series

LeapFrog’s LeapPad family of tablets—including the LeapPad2, LeapPad2 Power, and the 7-inch touchscreen tablet LeapPad Ultra—outsold competitors’ learning tablets and Android-based kids’ tablets.

LeapFrog has also partnered with Lionsgate Home Entertainment to release the first in a series of full-length learning videos featuring the next generation of popular frog characters made famous in the original Letter Factory DVD collection. LeapFrog Letter Factory Adventures: The Letter Machine Rescue Team includes problem solving and reading exercises, new songs, sing-a-long videos, and curriculum commentary for parents.

The video will be available for download from the LeapFrog App Center, on DVD, and digital HD beginning March 4.

LeapFrog and Lionsgate Partner For New “Letter Factory” Movies

LeapFrog Enterprises, Inc., and Lionsgate have announced a new partnership to develop, produce, and distribute four all-new animated Letter Factory movies to be released in DVD and digital beginning in early 2014. Building on the success of the LeapFrog library of animated DVDs, the new adventures will feature beloved characters Leap, Lily, and Tad as they take children on new learning journeys.

The new deal will include the creation and production of all-new content by LeapFrog featuring updated characters, new adventures, and learning curricula in new subject areas, and extends Lionsgate’s distribution rights on the popular LeapFrog catalog. It will provide Lionsgate with worldwide distribution rights to both physical and digital content from the new productions. In addition, LeapFrog has retained the rights to distribute the new content across its own proprietary digital platforms.

Lionsgate to Release New Barney DVD in Mid-September

Barney is back with a new DVD meant to enhance preschool counting. Barney: A-Counting We Will Go features the dinosaur and his friends as they play a game of hide-and-seek. But when Baby Bop realizes she can’t be the one to seek because she doesn’t know how to count, the cast is more than willing to help her learn. Suitable for ages 1 to 5, the DVD features both English and Spanish dubs as well as a “Counting in the Garden” game.

The 54-minute DVD from Lionsgate is also accompanied with a 64-page coloring and activity book that offers more ways to refresh preschool counting skills.

New LeapFrog DVD: Math Adventure to the Moon

LeapFrog and Lionsgate Home Entertainment are releasing a new math DVD, LeapFrog: Math Adventure to the Moon. The DVD, for preschoolers, takes viewers on an educational mission to the moon where they will learn early math skills such as counting, sorting, and addition.

Kids join Tad and Lily as they search for moon rocks. With some magical help from their firefly friend Edison, they board a rocket ship to the moon. Soon they learn that math is everywhere, and use their skills to count, sort, skip count, and recognize patterns.

LeapFrog: Math Adventure to the Moon DVD will be available on February 23 for the suggested retail price of $14.98.
