“Sing It, Laurie!” Debuts on Sprout

Sing It, Laurie!, the new animated musical preschool series co-created by children’s recording artist Laurie Berkner and Little Airplane ProductionsJosh Selig is coming to 24-hour preschool television channel Sprout. The short-form series will debut exclusively on the network beginning Monday, March 25. Sing It, Laurie! is the first collaboration between Berkner and Little Airplane.

Starring Berkner’s voice and featuring her original music written for the series, Sing It, Laurie! is about a little girl who uses her music and songs to help her better understand the world. “Meet the Small Potatoes” to Debut on Disney Junior in the U.S., Japan

Disney Junior has acquired the rights to air the 45-minute movie special debut of Meet the Small Potatoes in the U.S. and Japan.The first animated movie from Little Airplane Productions, Meet the Small Potatoes stars the four singing spuds alongside British actor Malcolm McDowell. The movie will premiere in the U.S. on Disney Channel and Disney Junior early next year and in Japan on Disney Junior later in the year.

The film was written and directed by Josh Selig (Wonder Pets, 3rd & Bird). The music for the film was written and produced by the team at Little Airplane and features original songs by the late Jerry Bock (Fiddler on the Roof). Beginning Monday, November 5, invites families to visit where parents can submit photos of their children for a chance to have them “potato-ized” and featured in the movie.

Selig will take part in a special MIP Junior session in Cannes at 10 a.m. on Sunday October 7, talking about the success of the Small Potatoes as a cross platform project.  The session, “KIDS IP, Where Does It Come From,” will be held at the Martinez Hotel.

Little Airplane Productions Joins with Laurie Berkner

Little Airplane Productions and children’s music artist Laurie Berkner have joined together to develop the new animated preschool television series Sing It, Laurie!
Sing It, Laurie! follows a little girl named Laurie who loves to sing and play her purple guitar. Each episode features songs written by Laurie Berkner.
The Sing It, Laurie! educational curriculum was written by Dr. Christine Ricci and focuses on two core themes: creativity curiosity and music appreciation. In each 11-minute episode, Laurie will use music and singing to help her explore and understand her world.

Little Airplane Productions’ Small Potatoes Inks Deal with Playhouse Disney

Little Airplane Productions’ new short-form animated series Small Potatoes is rolling into MIPCOM with news of a major pre-sale agreement with Disney Channel’s Playhouse Disney in the U.S. The 26 x 3 series has already been sold to CBeebies in the UK, NRK in Norway, SVT in Sweden, ABC TV in Australia, and TVO and Knowledge in Canada. ABC Commercial has also completed a deal for the Australian music and home entertainment rights to the show.

Little Airplane and Spin Master Team for New Property

Little Airplane Productions (President and Founder Josh Selig pictured above) and Spin Master Entertainment, a division of Spin Master, Ltd., will unveil their newest property at this year’s MIPJunior, to be held October 2-3. The series, Suzy Takes the Stage, combines a new animation technique called “Theatre Arts Animation” with traditional stage techniques including trap doors and lighting effects. Little Airplane created Theatre Arts Animation exclusively for the new series.

Suzy Takes the Stage follows Suzy, a girl who acts out her days on the stage through comedy and song. The series will include 52 episodes at 11 minutes each.
