Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media (DCPI) will debut the new retail campaign, Marvel Heroes Come in All Sizes, this spring. The campaign celebrates Marvel Super Heroes and everyday heroes to teach that the best way to measure a Super Hero is by the size of their heart.
New Marvel products will highlight this theme and will be available in categories including home entertainment, television, publishing, and digital content. At retail, Marvel Heroes Come in All Sizes will follow the success of the fall campaign, Marvel Super Hero Spectacular, with new product launches and in-store statements, including Hasbro for six-inch Marvel Legends figures; Funko for larger-scale collectible characters; Lego for updated Mighty Micros; Jakks Pacific for Tsum Tsum characters; Jada Toys for die-cast figures; and Schleich for a collectible figure lineup.
Retail partners will feature marketing campaigns, which include branded end caps at Walmart and Target; Toys “R” Us will debut a front-of-store “What’s Hot” feature; Kohl’s will promote Marvel softlines and toys; and Amazon will offer marketing support for DVDs, books, and licensed product.
Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media will support the campaign with a series of new brand-driven marketing spots and influencer campaigns. There will also be a stop-motion advertainment spot that will use Hasbro action figures, which will be released in February.
Marvel launched a merchandise collection in preparation for the upcoming Nov. 4 theatrical debut of Doctor Strange. The collection, led by Hasbro, Lego, Funko, and more, will offer merchandise for kids and collectors.
The line will include Lego Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum, Funko POP! Vinyl Doctor Strange Assortment, Mad Engine Doctor Strange Fan Apparel, Hasbro Doctor Strange 6 inch Legends Figure Assortment, Marvel’s Color Your Own Doctor Strange and Marvel’s Doctor Strange Vol. 1: The Way of the Weird.
The collections are available now at major retailers including Walmart, Target, Toys”R’’ US, Amazon, JCPenney, Kohl’s, Hot Topic, and Disney Store.
Marvel unveiled a licensing program in support of its Guardians of the Galaxy franchise ahead of next year’s sequel. In anticipation of the new film and to help spark ongoing demand for all things Guardians, Marvel is unleashing an expanded merchandising program. The program will offer year-round support to the franchise for fans of all ages with focus on younger customers, ages 6-11. Rubie’s Costume Company Inc., joined forces with Marvel to produce officially licensed costumes, costume tops, masks, and accessories for Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, the 13th installment in the Marvel cinematic universe.
Available in child and adult sizes, the collection includes Captain America, Iron Man, Winter Solider, Black Widow, Vision, and Hawkeye, and introduces Black Panther, Crossbones, Falcon, War Machine, and Scarlet Witch. In addition, Rubie’s Pet Shop Boutique offers new styles for pets, and Imagine by Rubie’s offers dress-up costumes and accessories for children in separates and boxed sets.
The upcoming film hits theaters on May 6 and the Captain America: Civil War Collection by Rubie’s will be available this Halloween season.
Disney Interactive and Marvel today launched the Marvel Battlegrounds Play Set for Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition. Developed by United Front Games in partnership with Avalanche Software, Marvel Battlegrounds is the first Disney Infinity play set to introduce a new four-player, local co-op, brawler style gameplay. The set features an original Marvel storyline and full compatibility for all Disney Infinity Marvel figures, including new characters: Captain America–The First Avenger, Ant-Man, and Black Panther, whose costumes are inspired by the upcoming film Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War. Marvel is rolling out a new merchandising program inspired by Black Panther in time for his first appearance as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a new comic book written from Ta-Nehisi Coates, and 50th anniversary. The campaign will touch on all major categories including publishing, apparel, toys, collectibles, home goods, and more.
The licensing program features a wide range of products inspired by both the new Marvel comic book debuting April 6th and Black Panther’s first film appearance in Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War film in May. Players will get to engage in the ultimate rumble as Marvel Super Heroes and Super Villains struggle to gain control of Wakanda’s most valuable resource, Vibranium.
